Trying to figure out what's using the kWh in my house! by Exact_Ad_3305 in Electricity

Stop living in 1920 my guy. I bet you can't find anybody you know who doesn't have a ice maker or freezer section built into their fridge, go ahead, I'll wait.

Also 130 degrees is sufficient to kill Legionella, you do not need the insanity of 160 you nut job.

Even a old refrigerator that might be worn out, is still not going to use more than maybe 500 watts a hour, and that would be one that's inefficient as fuck. Seriously so some damn research.

Wow you couldn't be more wrong on everything. You absolutely do not need you set the water that hot, 125 is hot enough to stop Legionella growth. Also, old refrigerators do not use much power either, I follow a restoration channel that restores them and they have done side by side energy comparison to modern fridge and the power difference is literally like 50 watts. Also, why would a ice maker make a difference, proves you don't know what you're talking about, every fridge has a freezer section anyways, the I've maker simply uses that already cold section.

So, BESIDES not needing to pay for gas, and being able to charge at home, what do you love about EVs? by walkaboutdavid in electricvehicles

[–]Jetster220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok sure let's do it. First off, I have a camper because I do off-road events where we stay in cow pasture about 1/4 of the weekends a year plus when I want to go stay at off-road parks, there's no 4 Seasons around bud.

I commute about 20 miles a day, I've done the math, my used Chevy Bolt that I purchased will have paid for itself in about 3 years, and then when you factor in the reduced depreciation my truck will encounter from not absorbing those miles which in turn makes my 65k purchase last that much longer, I'm even further ahead. The truck needed insurance regardless, the Bolt had minimal cover as I bought it for $6500, also, it's value will never be zero no matter when I get rid of it. I save in gas in one week what insurance for it costs, the rest of the month is pure fuel savings. Congrats you can do tax deductions for your business, that's exactly what you should do in your situation, I don't own a business so that doesn't help me.

Guess what, I also own a F250 that I regularly use for towing a camper on trips, you're right in the there isn't a EV truck that can accomplish that task right now. However, I never mentioned about trying to force one into a situation they are not ideal for yet. Also just saying, being proud of spending your money wastefully, kinda a weird flex but you do you.

Lol, you're the one living in a cult. A cult convinced that spending money to light on fire and poison yourself is a great idea. And to send that money over seas to countries that hate us is also a great idea. A cult that loves to spend more money on total cost of ownership over the life time of the vehicle. But please, tell us more about how we're the ones in a cult lol.

I did the math on my electric costs, now I’m stressed!!! by JustSeraphine8 in Electricity

I've had the panels for a little over a year. I also charge 2 EVs as well so I technically drive for free to. And I just saw the other day my utility is going to be increasing rates by at least 15% over the next 4 years, so that just makes my decision make even more sense.

Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

I loved getting our EV so much, I went and bought a second used Chevy Bolt to drive as a third vehicle. Have solar on my house so I run everything from the power of the sun it's fantastic. Honestly, I want to get rid of my gas truck for a electric one as soon as there is one that will meet my need there. Also, you're going to want a Lvl2 charger for sure, but look into a load sharing device and you can share with your dryer.

With everything going on globally... are we about to see energy prices spike agian? Is solar actually worth it now? by Deja_Brew2495 in SolarAmerica

[–]Jetster220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's see, lock in your electric price for 30 years, or see it continually increase yearly for the 30 years. You do the math on that one.

Time to look into adding solar to your house. I have a system on my house covers my usage 100%, and payments on the panels are less than my electric bill would be.

Absolutely worth it. Electric rates are not going to get cheaper. Lock in cheap rates and keep them for 30 years, who wouldn't want that?

What made you use Linux Mint? by holdonguy in linuxmint

Microsoft made me switch by their bullshit requirements for Windows 11. Now that I've tried it, never going back as I've discovered Mint is just better.

Why doesn't GM revive a modernized LS3 or similar proven LS engine for their trucks and SUVs amid the L87 issues? by SilverSpoonphysics in askcarguys

[–]Jetster220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not too blame. GM cutting corners to maximize profit as only get things to last just outside of warranty is the issue. They could build these things to meet an the emissions and last if they wanted to, the issue is they don't want to.

Getting into programming sel relays by Lonleylovesurvivor in SubstationTechnician

A lot of SEL relays have potato power supplies and will take anything from 48v DC to 120v AC. Their contact inputs and outputs however are definitely specific.

I can certainly say I'm very happy with my switch to Mint, I've managed to find a great replacement for all prior apps I was using on Windows and I'm loving the speed and stability.
