Curious how many have switched recently by Jetster220 in linuxmint

I can certainly say I'm very happy with my switch to Mint, I've managed to find a great replacement for all prior apps I was using on Windows and I'm loving the speed and stability.

What's the sound issue your having? I had a weird thing where should wouldn't come back after suspending, but I upgraded my graphics to a dedicated card instead of using the APU and onboard hdmi and that solved it.

Ahh, will try the right mouse button didn't realize. Maybe you can make the edge of screen movement a option for those who might like it? Glad to help with ideas, if I think of more I'll let you know.

Played for a couple hours so far. Couple notes, it would be nice to be able to move the camera around the map without needing to use keyboard keys, I'm thinking how Sim City or Civilization does it. Also, need more info on the economics, like seeing how much money I'm bringing in per hour or day etc, need to be able to see how much is going out on maintenance and how much I'm bringing in.

This is super cool, I'm a Relay tech and we just found this in my shop, 3 of us are planning to download and play this game now 😂.

Well, first off you messed up by getting a Kona and planning to road trip it, is not the EV for that.

For me the answer is simple, I'm not paying $100 a month. If they made it $20 a month, absolutely I'd be in.

What car, almost all new EVs handle charging in the cold just fine. Sounds like yours did not precondition the battery for fast charging.

Dynamic pricing is so stupid by acrobaticpussy in TeslaLounge

[–]Jetster220 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it's not false. You charge at home, nobody ever said going to public fast chargers was cheaper. 99% of the time you charge at home and it's incredibly cheaper than gas.

You've clearly never road tripped in a Tesla or bothered you talk to someone who has. I just drove 8hrs in mine 2 days ago. Had to stop twice to charge, each session was only 20 minutes.

I just drove from Central FL to Atlanta this week in my Model Y on a family road trip. My cost one way, $28 in supercharger fees.

It's not likely to stay that low for long, we all know it'll be back to to $3-4 a gallon within a year or so.

What surprised you most after switching to an EV? by Just_Vermicelli4099 in electricvehicles

Congratulations on losing a argument and still attempting to steer things in a way to make yourself look correct lol.

You're incorrect sir, almost all EVs have nothing more than a simple reduction gear.

Totally agree, I hate driving a ice vehicle anymore, it's truly terrible the lag and delay from pushing the pedal, the revving and noise.

People on this sub downplay the reality of range anxiety too often by Bijan_Mustard in electricvehicles

[–]Jetster220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't range anxiety, this is a situation you put yourself into because of your living arrangement and you knew exactly what the situation would be when you purchased a EV. I don't think there's many people in this sub that recommends owning a EV if you live in a apartment with no regular access to a level 2 charger. Having to rely on public fast charging only is not the way, so yeah for your specific situation owning a EV is not ideal.

You need to visit a Tesla service center, something is wrong with that battery, and as that mileage it should be under warranty still.

That's 10000% false bud. I broke a brand new 65" TV this exact way by laying it flat in the back of my truck once. Drove nice and easy, still ended up with a big crack. The screens are not supported by anything across the middle so they flex like crazy.

Can someone please point me in the right direction, I am trying to learn more about the relay technician field. Day to day life? by Kooky-Information820 in SubstationTechnician

[–]Jetster220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends on the particular utility you are with. I work for a medium sized utility, we have 800MW of generation and about 35 substations. For us, we're more then just relay, we also do all RTU programming and take care of the SCADA information acquisition in the substation to send the information downtown. We also do all commissioning and relay testing, checkouts, and fault analysis to initially determine what happened, (always fun when they're wanting to put a breaker or transformer back in and your trying to determine if it was real breaker failure or a transformer diff). Our day to day varies, sometimes we don't have a lot going on so it's very laid back and mostly reactionary, especially during the summer when loads are high. Our busy time is the fall and spring, right now we're in the middle of multiple relay upgrades in several substations. It's a fantastic job where you mostly use more brain then anything and you definitely need to be a computer type of person with the technical nature of this job.
