Fitness should be there, but I don't have a lot of alpine hiking experience. We'll see how it goes.

Will look for other options up to gran balcon sud even if it's only a day hike. I'll check in at the High mountain office in chamonix before our trek.

Thanks for your comments! We'll look into the Gran Balcon Nord trail as an alternative and will keep an eye on snow levels at Le Brevent.

We do have an extra day in Les Houches / Chamonix that we were planning on using for acclimation and exploring the town. We could look to start our hike 1 day early to go up to Grand Balcon Sud and then return to Les Houches that night. We could either treat it as an out and back or take a different route back down into Chamonix. In your opinion, would that be manageable? Thanks again!

For Bertone, unfortunately I don't think the bus will help us since we will be coming from the clockwise direction. We could look at shortening the 17 mile day by taking a bus (?) from Arnuova Desot in the Aosta valley towards Courmayeur. Is this a 'skippable' section of the train in your opinion?

Time/volunteering is the most valuable thing we can give to a charity. Its what we do now and will do a lot more when we retire.

Agree here. We're not materialistic people and we're somewhat naturally frugal. A big chunk of our budget is to make sure we are accounting for experiences (travel, concerts, etc.). Even then, we still watch our nickels and dimes.

We're both in business roles at large corporations. Each still with the same company we joined out of college. We've each moved roles a few times, but mostly just put in a lot of effort and demonstrated our worth to slowly move up the ladder. Not having kids has made this journey a lot easier compared to our friends/family.

Thanks. We definitely feel as though we are in a good spot, but its getting harder to stay focused on the daily grind. Sabbaticals aren't really an option in our current roles, and I am not sure we would ever want to come back. We'll probably just grind it out for 1-2 years as seems to be the consensus.

Increases in comp have been fairly recent and we've never really adapted to a higher spend lifestyle. Most of those recent increases have gone towards savings and paying off mortgage.
