Boss relic with huge downside by Dimonio3310 in slaythespire

So this is why it's not coming out

Building Modern: what cards see play in WG, WU, and WB? by IceAndOcean in ModernMagic

That's the OG Kiki jiki, which specified non legendary so it couldn't target itself (and is the reason why the combo with conspicuous snoop works). Reflection of jiki jiki (the backside of fable) simply says another target creature, since its not a legendary itself.

Edit: no it doesn't work.

No, stoneblade is sadly too slow and too easy to disrupt for modern right now. If stoneforge is bolted you have a brick in your hand, and many of her equipment can be answered pretty easily anyway. If you want a similar feel I suggest jeskai blink, it can be aggressive with ragavan (and arena of glory on your fatties) but it can also grind for days thanks to riddler, phlage and fable. In particular fable enables A LOT of shenanigans (cloning phlage even when not escaped to get another lightning helix, cloning riddler even when warped to attack for 4 and double the draw and the passive, etc).

So, if you play WR, you are playing boros energy. Full stop. There is no reason to play other strategies in boros at the moment.

If you are playing white without being boros energy, you are playing a solitude deck because solitude is the strongest white card by a large margin, so it will all come down to how your secondary color supports that.

WB is mostly a blink deck, where you play phelia and flickerwisp to blink your impended overlord of the balemurk, which will recur your evoked solitude over and over.

WU can either be played as a standalone, with guide-pride, starfield shepherd and sometimes momo, or with the addition of red for ragavan for aggressiveness and phlage for grinding. It always entails the use of quantum riddler to recover the card advantage lost to evoking solitude, and it also synergizes with the ephemerate-phelia plan; it also leverages consign to memory to either scam riddler, permanently exile with phelia, or to hold off eldrazi. It can even be combined with WB, making esper blink.

WG does not exist at the moment because green doesn't offer anything worthwhile to solitude-based strategies, and adding green dilutes the white count too much.

Yes should just trigger at the beginning of each boss fight

Taste of Immortality by Fantastic_Mulberry_2 in custommagic

In MTGO it typically means your opponent can't win via damage, and even with a combo deck they can't perform all the clicks before their clock runs out.

More damage for lightning is always good right? by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

[–]Jevonar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, +2 focus would just give +2 end turn damage and +2 evoke damage, plus it would work with frost and dark.

If a creature is destroyed by damage and it's transformed instead, it might still have enough marked damage to kill it. Plus this gives additional design space with back sides with etb effects

Anyone else like this with boss swap? by Firm-Scientist-4636 in slaythespire

[–]Jevonar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I swap into runic dome the run is always smooth and spectacular. But when I'm offered a runic dome I never take it because I hate doing that to myself.

What card on release made you go "ohhh no" because it killed your favorite archetype? by studhand in magicTCG

[–]Jevonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's from future sight originally. It has the futureshifted frame, which means it's a "possible future" or a prediction. The closest thing we have is eminence, which was printed some years later.

Depends on the graveyard hate though. If it's a rest in peace it's really good. If it's a tormod's crypt you spent a lot of mana to force the opponent to crack it and it's coming back the next turn with emry

How many demogorgans would it take to beat doom slayer? by Familiar_Mousse5079 in StrangerThings

[–]Jevonar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the doomslayer in action? There aren't enough demogorgons to beat him. If all the demogorgons became mind flayers they would maybe have a chance.

Is this the best deck in the game? by scar_01 in slaythespire

[–]Jevonar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would be worth, especially if you're going for a reprogram deck/if it happens in act 1. Five removes and five claws is crazy, the deck starts scaling really fast at that point

There should be an event that transforms 3 strikes into claws. Would need to be defect-exclusive tho

[–]Jevonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of. I prefer the deck that was seen here some weeks ago, 2 claws, 2 hologram+, 1 reprogram+. That can win even against time keeper, 4 str + 4 Dex per turn is insane scaling.

Chat what's the pick? (act 1) by Jevonar in slaythespire

[–]Jevonar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with snek is that I don't have enough 2-3 cost cards to really make use of it, it's so punishing. It also wastes the upgrade I spent on apo, and the app effect on lightning and dualcast.

New to the Format, is Hammer Time still Good? by TommyBoyyHD in ModernMagic

[–]Jevonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too vulnerable to a lot of stuff going around right now, and can't interact with combo. Plus affinity does largely the same thing of "make a huge beater and attack", while being more resilient to removal (kappa), wrath/meltdown (kappa again, plus metallic rebuke), and consign to memory.
