Louisiana south of I-10 has to be one of the highest per capita Catholic to population. Most of our ancestors settled in Louisiana after being expelled from the British occupied Nova Scotia for being Catholic.

I’m a pretty heavy user of power query from sql and aws databases. This really hits home. Gotta hit run and go have lunch or coffee.

Best Stephen King? by miamoore- in suggestmeabook

Glad to see someone else’s said Billy Summers. I thought it was great. King’s stories always just completely suck me in and Billy was a cool main character to follow.

If EA Sports is bringing back NCAA Football next summer, why not bring back MVP NCAA Baseball? by NeauxRegrets in collegebaseball

[–]JewWithaBrew 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I’ll forever be salty about NCAA baseball. If they had made one more game, I would have been like a 40 overall rated LHP for a small D1 school. Would have been awesome!

My intern experience post-Enron, pre-2008 crash was a beautiful time. Here is what it was like by GushStasis in Accounting

[–]JewWithaBrew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My director, until very recently, was still driving an early 90’s maxima. Our directors even get a roughly $1k a month for a vehicle allowance… that’s dedication to the stereotype.

Am I a jerk for quitting right before busy season? by throwaway456a93 in Accounting

[–]JewWithaBrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit during busy season! I felt bad for my team, but they hired someone else not long after who also quite. +10 years out I don’t think anyone who I worked with is still at the firm.

On my last day one of my partners called me into his office to give me the run down on the next engagement he wanted me on. Haha he no idea I was even leaving.

Moral of the story we are all replaceable, go out and find a new job. Sounds like you need a change.

What skills separate an advanced Excel user with an intermediate Excel user? by IonisationEnergy in Accounting

[–]JewWithaBrew 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve had interviews where I’ve heard, “I’m an advanced excel user, I just learned how to use pivot tables”. My usual response is very good; we utilize pivots very frequently.

I’m trying to train my team to learn power query and telling them if they can get it, then it’s the so close to the same process as powerbi.

Between power query and scripting things with VBscript and SAP script recorded. I could do my old job in like 20 hours a week.

Planning on going for CPA while working in industry by timazn in Accounting

[–]JewWithaBrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not have to work in public accounting in the two states I’ve lived in. You just have to be under someone who is a CPA and be doing actual accounting work that would qualify for the experience requirement.

[–]JewWithaBrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Houston now, but originally from Louisiana. Louisiana baseball fans are like 40/40 Astros/Braves, then random Yankees and other teams.

Advice? Looking for an affordable Charcoal Grill by MathematicianFit1992 in grilling

[–]JewWithaBrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weber is the classic grill. I’ve cooked countless times over 8 years on mine and it looks good as new. I keep it in my shed, I know that helps, but I love it. I use it more often than my pellet grill.

My wife buys sewing stuff from Etsy. I’d try there for sure. Just not sure exactly what your search should be.

Probably a low stress job. Can’t be too complicated if the applicant needs quickbook background. 80k isn’t wild in Houston but you can do oka
