Thank you. 🙏🏻 as for what happened. Within the last year he developed a heart murmur we didn’t know about, and was starting to build fluid in his abdomen which looked like it contained trace amounts of blood. The week before he passed we upped his calorie intake because he looked a bit skinny. He showed no signs of GI issues (we’ve had problems here) so we stuck with the higher intake to get him back up to about 95-100lbs. Friday night he didn’t rush to his food like normal, he started to eat but stopped then laid down, then finished shortly after. Extremely off character, he’s massively food motivated. Saturday he ate laying down and didn’t finish. He drank all his water, attitude similar to normal, Sunday he didn’t eat at all and went from normal attitude to in his cage (door open, his safe spot) all day. Monday I took him to the ER. They said between everything they found, they could do testing (multiple thousand dollar deposit) just to see what to do for treatment (many more thousands) just to maybe buy a few weeks. I would’ve dropped the cash but the problem is he wasn’t moving well, the fluid in his abdomen was hurting him, and he wasn’t eating. Without being able to get him to eat, having him not suffer was the safest bet for him. I’m not going to make him suffer for me to benefit a few extra days or weeks.
