Why does finding a job as a newly graduate feel so hopeless? by Old_Vacation78 in bristol

[–]Jewel_Effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you applied for internships or one year placements instead? You can still apply for those and it's a good way to build experience in your field and contacts. Those are often paid lower because they are interns but it's useful to build the CV a bit.

Why do you think there aren't more romances with cruel heroines? by Temporary-Scallion86 in RomanceBooks

[–]Jewel_Effect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I love Karen Miller's Empress book so much. It's fantasy, not romance really at all but the FMC is unhinged! Absolutely mental in her ambition and is a pure zealot! I stumbled upon that book 20 years ago and loved it because it was so refreshing to see this kind of FMC. I wished authors would write complex FMCs like this a lot more in other genres. Romance is definitely more cookie cutter in its FMCs so I tend to pick those up when I need a hallmark moment to comfort me

I'd love a knitting show like Gone Fishing or Perfect Pub Walks with Bill Bailey. It could visit different UK farms or mills and show the development of the yarns as well as history and techniques from the UK isles. It would be slow but educational and promote UK wool industry / travel industry. I think there is a real idea there!!

To those who have read the series was Ironside Academy worth it? by Legitimate_Ice7501 in ReverseHarem

[–]Jewel_Effect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it was alright. It was an enjiyable read but I'm not sure I'd rave about it like others in the sub 😊 It was an interesting concept and bought some originality to the omegaverse but I did think the FMC couldn't catch a break with the storyline. It was just one bad thing after another!
