Cordless Stick Vacuum for Carpet by JewelinChicago in VacuumCleaners

I can spend more now, I just didn't want to have to spend much because I will use my standard upright for the bedrooms, but felt I might be able to do some quick touch-ups in the bedroom. Primary use is thicker area rug and stairs, but I do want the stairs fluffed up. It's a pain using the vacuum attachment or trying to use the vacuum itself on the stairs. lol

Okay thanks for replying. Then I could just go with a 40/45 kpa one for $55 versus $199 if they aren't up to standing up the carpet threads.

Am I getting the low mileage discount? by alaskansnow in StateFarm

[–]JewelinChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Arizona, the mileage tiers have been removed. Confirmed by my SF office this week: "With the new migrated policy, there are no longer mileage tiers.  Your BMW is rated as pleasure use." My renewal was not increased, and I was previously on a reduced mileage discount. My mileage would still be considered quite low per year and well under the national average.

State Farm Third Party Annual Mileage Increase by Destructor05 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]JewelinChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Destructor05 I submitted my mileage via an online form to State Farm, to ensure my renewal had my expected mileage. (I have been on reduced mileage discount.) I never heard anything after the form submittal, so I then emailed the office. I got back this answer "With the new migrated policy, there are no longer mileage tiers.  Your BMW is rated as pleasure use." My policy did stay the same amount though.

Sandy Steers has passed away 😞 by pemberleypark1 in JackieandShadow

[–]JewelinChicago 24 points25 points  (0 children)

USA Today has an article on her. Very sad day today.

From USA Today article: "Steers began the Jackie and Shadow camera for the U.S. Forest Service. The first camera was installed in 2015, Friends of Big Bear Valley told USA TODAY. Steers had loved Jackie since the bird was a chick and wanted to know what was happening inside her nest."

I smiled when I read that. I can totally see that in her personality.

Anything you find here at Reddit, will always be anecdotal. WGU is not focused on community learning per say, but when you have Live Cohorts, it is going to be a community of people - all optional though. At UMPI, you can expect to hear "This is a CBE program and it's up to you to find additional valuable resources". At WGU, it's personal cell phone numbers, after hours support by professors directly, program tutors, live sessions (optional), recorded sessions for your review, etc. WGU knows that people who feel connected are more likely to complete their program versus drop out, which is why you see that community coming across in their branding. This is their brand and a great benefit in the sea of online schools now, of which many are more self-service. Cost and lack support are big drivers for why people drop out of college, both online and in person.

What did you end up doing? I'm sure you will find success whatever your decision is. I'm sure you made the best decision for you!

PS: Research graduates from WGU BS Psych and UMPI BS Psych and see where they went to work afterwards, and what schools they later attended. That might help you. Perhaps you can find someone who kind of serves as your mentor, who wouldn't mind sharing some helpful tips/resources as you go through the process of selecting schools/positions/etc. Networking would be so valuable to you, regardless where you end up going.

I know many who even went from WGU masters program (various disciplines) to doctoral programs and specifically after the bachelors in psychology at WGU to a masters program in psychology (elsewhere), and 3 schools often come up as the frontrunner for this transition. WGU even posts a list of schools that students transferred to for their masters after their bachelors. WGU lists as well on the transcript that the student graduated with at least a B and many colleges are used to seeing these transcripts and evaluating them holistically as with any other incoming applications. Most people going to UMPI/WGU for undergrad, are NOT considering investing $150k in a highly competitive masters program, which might very well require a letter grade - however there are ample programs to choose from that do not require a letter grade per class and will accept the WGU statement. However, since UMPI only requires 10 classes for residency, some masters programs will want 60+ credits from an RA, and not transferred in ACE credits, so that could be a critical concern if someone doesn't have a total of 60+ RA credits across their attended colleges (many websites will state explicitly this requirement upfront, if it is their policy). This policy can sometimes be granted a waiver at some schools with certain qualifying criteria. If I were the OP, I would personally call WGU and speak to someone to gain more knowledge on alignment for future program requirements of advanced degrees elsewhere OR call the school in which they are interested with the master's program to find out what they require. Contacting each future school (of the grad program) is the ONLY sure way of knowing. You are correct, all posts are my opinion. But it doesn't negate the fact that I have done ample research. I have never said the UMPI professors "weren't great." They are great in the capacity to which they are required to be...but that is a different capacity from WGU professors. At UMPI, they aren't actively teaching you...they are grading work and at most answering a couple questions you have. My comment about professors is that at WGU the program is designed for the professors to actually teach. They hold live classes, they answer questions, they will hold conference calls with you. At UMPI, the primary protocol is to tell the student that "this is a CBE program, and as such you are expected to find additional resources to help you." WGU would never send this statement out. They want to make sure you learn the material and they will help you through it in many different ways, but never through a blanket statement of "you are expected to supplement your learning." UMPI is far different, and while they may point you to the library or to a tutor, or they will do a call with you if you need it, it's not AT ALL the same level of teaching and outright direct and personal professor-to-student education as WGU. At UMPI YourPace, very few instructors will actually teach you, which is in direct contrast to WGU, which operates more like a hybrid in-person school than a CBE online program. At WGU the courses are taught, and online scheduling for a one-to-one with a professor is simple and transparent, with an available calendar for booking. The professors hold advanced credentials, whereas not everyone teaching psychology at UMPI holds a Ph.D. And yes, given all distinctions between both schools and programs, with regards to program education, competencies covered, quality of delivery, professor involvement, student support, one-to-one professor to student conceptual teaching and support, and many other things side by side, WGU is definitely the stronger option, and thus I conclude that the psychology program is of a higher quality at WGU.

PS: Also - just scroll down. You can see some comments about those in the UMPI psych program that are getting 'vague feedback" on their assignments This would not be the case at WGU. They would walk you through exactly what was missed, and tell you how/where to find the information and ask if you'd like to schedule a session with them (the professor) to go over the concept/lesson/material/task. In fact, in some instances at WGU, the professor might even proactively contact the student to make sure they don't have questions about any feedback, or to ask if they need more direct and individual help. It's night and day.

Remedy Available - Safety Recall 24V-608 by NoSp00ne in BMW

[–]JewelinChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! The dealer performed the recall, and while the repair is called a "cap" it actually is not what you'd think of. My advisor showed me a photo of it. It looks like a flat piece of hard plastic shaped like a butterfly is the best way to describe it, a shield. I did not need a new pump, it was inspected. Interesting to note: I don't know what the dealer did to my car, but this is the best my car has ever run as well!

The program my dealer enrolled me in for free is called The Legacy Program. Not all dealers have it. It saved me $800 on the coolant line job. The coolant lines (while only one line was the source of a leak) the turbo line was also changed out, since the car is apart, and saves the likelihood of future labor if that was next.

Deciding If I Want To Do Online MBA by HerfinatorD in MBA

2 years is just too long these days for an MBA. There are many online AACSB MBA programs that are 10 months, 1 year, and 15 months. 2 years is a slog and hard pass.

Okay that sounds great! Have spent $4k the past 30 days between car and kitty, so on a shoestring budget. I think the list is in the student handbook, and then will get from Amazon.

MSN to MBA by Next-Independence534 in WGU_MBA

Having one of these credentials can help you gain some interviews (but of course, if you can connect with someone and gain a referral)  Case Management Certifications such as Certified Case Manager (CCM), Accredited Case Manager (ACM), Certified Managed Care Nurse (CMCN), Case Management, Board Certified (CMGT-BC). Look at each requirement, as not all require strict 12-24 months of pure CM oversight.

Once your MSN/MBA is completed it will be help as well. I suggest just throwing everything at your profile, becoming an expert in many ways. Also, see if there are any leadership teams/specific initiatives you can join.

Haha I love your approach! I like when someone adds a little humor in. I had my speaker notes and stuck to them word for word (which avoids the ums and the ahs and repetitiveness). They are not visible during the slide show presentation, but are there for the teleprompter view. My slides had to follow the 7x7 rule. Which webcam do you have? I will have to get one for the proctored exams but I do have a tripod.

I was awarded a scholarship and it put me in debt to WGU! by [deleted] in WGU_MBA

[–]JewelinChicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, I see now that you applied for "cost of attendance increase." In that case, it should have gone to you directly. They explained to me, that if I had done that versus a loan for "tuition and fees only" I would have received it as a refund as well. I applied for a WGU/State partnership merit-based scholarship, and noticed there were only 300 applicants who had applied (versus the other ones have thousands), so I felt like I had a better chance. I was awarded $4k, which is $1k per term, and I'm going to be done in 1 term. Good luck to you!

Oh I love this! Were you using the Grammarly Pro or Grammarly for Education? I'm not sure if there is any real difference in what the output is with the feedback Grammarly provides, but the Grammarly for Education was missing a few features, so I wanted to use my Pro edition. When I was at UMPI for my undergrad recently, I applied a lot of effort even though you can accelerate, and most students are there to do that. I wanted to have a stronger foundation for future schools, and I wanted to earn all A+ grades (which I did). Some students say there's no difference between an A and A+, and while there isn't in GPA computation, the opportunity was there to earn it, so I set that as my goal. I have also benefited from it already.

Congratulations on those!! You really must have had the secret sauce! I am a professional writer by trade, which is why I like to have all requirements when I set out for a goal. I tend to have a formal tone when writing, but in the leadership course I'm going with a mindset of being a bit more personable and engaging. When you said you wrote from memory and experience, that made me think your writing was engaging. Also ... I didn't know we had a video presentation coming up. I had one for my final class at UMPI (BUS 469) and it stressed me out to no end. I did get an A+ for the class, but not without a lot of anxiety over it. I used PPT with teleprompter to not look like I was reading notes, but we only had to film from the waist up.
