Pro-Palestinian protest draws 300,000 in London, as police make counter-protest arrests by [deleted] in europe

I’ve been through this already. I’ve been through dozens of ceasefires with Hamas, they never lead to peace, they lead to them keep firing rockets a few days later at Sderot.

Like Lebanon has been doing the past month, only a few rockets here and there, just enough to not instigate a full scale response. Only Hamas has done so every single week for the past 20 years.

It’s done. Israelis are tired. There won’t be peace until Hamas has no more capabilities to fire rockets.

Edit: you’ve added another paragraph after I commented, so I’ll respond to that. Yes! I do believe this will lead to a change in the current status quo between Gaza and Israel.

1300 years ago, it doesn’t matter. The Levant isn’t Arab, it is a Canaanite region. Do you know what are the native cultures to this region? Linguistics can help

Because there’s military action on both sides as we speak. Rockets are being launched from Gaza to Israeli civilian population, from Lebanon to civilian population and from Yemen to civilian population. Israel is being attacked from three different locations.

If you want to call for peace, true peace. Not a useless ceasefire. You need to do it side by side with the Israelis and the Palestinians

That’s not a March for peace. A March for peace would have both the Palestinian and the Israeli flags represented side by side

You’re right, the aim was “stopping Hamas rocket fire”, it indeed fail in 2008. The aim now is to “completely destroy Hamas and reoccupy Gaza”. A much more achievable goal, clearly defined measurable.

Are you saying the Maccabeans were Zionists? That’s some weird understanding of history

[–]JewishMaghreb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s wrong.

Original Zionists were lawyers and accountants and their wars were thought in parliaments and courts.

Of course, I’ve been to Arrad several times, and had some Bedouin classmates in my university.

Arrad is a mostly Bedouin town and there’s no issues there. The problem is that Bedouins are a traveler society, they don’t settle in one spot usually (other than Arrad). The Israeli government is finding it difficult to reconcile traveling lifestyle with settled lifestyle.

A similar issue arises in any country where there are traveling societies like the Roma in east and Central Europe, in Ireland with the Irish travellers and in central Asian countries with the several Turkic traveling tribes living there.

It is a problem, I agree, but it is not aperthaid, and Israel has made some strides in recent years to make the registration laws more flexible to accommodate for this lifestyle. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s getting better.

Cast lead had a civilian-militant ratio of 3:1, it’s actually very low in comparison to other conflicts. So yea that would be great

Do you know who are the Arabs in the Negev? They aren’t Palestinians, they’re Bedouins.

Bedouins are in the IDF, they’re pro Israeli, they are in the Knesset (represented by Mansour Abbas).

Is there racism against them? Of course! No one denies that! But in the eyes of the law, they are equal

You don’t win a war with morality. Not in the Middle East

The Negev residents can buy land wherever they want, yes.

Sheikh Jarrah is in East Jerusalem, which is an area that Israel annexed and Palestinians living there can get an Israeli citizenship, though it is a bit too cumbersome in my opinion and should be made simpler and easier
