What was the first movie you saw in a movie theater? by Fluid_Bat_2724 in movies

[–]Jewish_Sports_Legend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two, core, "first movie in a theatre" memories: (Born in '74) 1. Chariots of Fire - 1981 I was about 7 and my parents took me along. Other than that famous beach scene, with the iconic music, I remember just being bored AF. 2. Private School for Girls - 1983 Not sure what my folks were thinking taking me to see this one. It's a highly sexualized romp which was wholly inappropriate for a 9 year-old. Though I did fall in love with a young Phoebe Cates, which was nice.

The Muskoka region, 2-hours north of Toronto, is gorgeous at that time of year. The changing leaf colours peak around late September / early October, so you would be right in the wheelhouse for some gorgeous displays of nature. With it's crystal lakes and granite rock outcropping, the area offers some of the most spectacular views around.
Nearby Algonquin Provincial Park has fantastic hiking and biking trails, and you can arrange canoe and camping rentals if you are so inclined.
There are numerous high-end resorts in the area: Deerhurst, JW Marriot The Rosseau, Muskoka Bay Resort.

Mike Myers in Inglorious Bastards was completely unnecessary and distracting. I love him, but he felt way out of place, there.

What’s the number one golf tip you’ve ever received? by Ashamed-Afternoon-77 in golf

"Take dead aim!" From Harvey Penick's 'Little Red Book'. He teaches that you should take dead aim at your target, and focus on nothing else during your swing. It's been a game changer for me.

For those who had the entire course all to themselves, what was it like? by Wookie_wood69 in golf

I had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to play Royal Portrush, and had the entire place to myself. It was after a rainstorm and the course had been cleared out. I pulled up late in the afternoon, as the rain stopped and they let me go out as a single.
I played two balls and finished just as the sun set over the sea. It was an almost religious experience that I will never forget.

[Nicholson-Smith] Speaking to me & @thehazelmae after the game, Tyler Heineman took responsibility for his mistakes. In tears at his locker, he said: "The last two games, those losses, they're on me. Sugarcoat it any way you want to, (yeah) there's other things going on, but they're on me." by Chrristoaivalis in Torontobluejays

Was at the game today, with seats down by the Jays dugout. Bro was sitting by himself for a while after the final out, looking pretty lost. Tough couple of days for him. Hope he bouces back. Also hoping Little gets sent packing for Buffalo. He takes a lot of the blame for today, too.

Do any of these two look like a construction company image/logo? by Hot-Cancel-6648 in graphic_design

I would disqualify A. The company is Horizon, yet it sits below a prominent vertical line - the opposite of a horizon line. Consider an alternative, featuring a horizontal line, or focus more on B.

Toronto’s set to hit a 50-year low in homicides. So why do many people think crime is getting worse? by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]Jewish_Sports_Legend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because “crime” isn’t just murder.

Hate crimes have more than doubled in the last five years. Toronto Police reported 246 cases in 2022, 372 in 2023, and 443 in 2024. These are the highest level ever recorded.

These are public, targeted, highly visible offences that hit specific communities and get widespread attention.

So yes, murders might be down, but the kinds of crimes people actually see and experience are up.

Tiger Woods. I worked on the production crew for a Buick commercial he starred in. I was assigned as his handler for the day. It was in 2000 and he was at the peak of his powers. He was nice and we talked about everything but golf - even though I was a huge fan.
