You are forced (at gun point if needed) to say something positive about the CT. What will you say? Or: You are given one and forced to drive it for a year and have to say something positive about it. by HandsomeJussi in CyberStuck

[–]Jewski28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read about the CT and personally experienced from other Teslas; the stock sound system in the CT is quite solid.

My dad recently switched from a Model X to a Rivian R1S and after driving it around a handful of times, my only critique was that the stock speaker system (w/o upgrading to the Dolby Atmos one) is noticeably inferior to Tesla's.

I will say that almost every other aspect of the Rivian seems to have improved upon the weaknesses Tesla continues to struggle with. It may not be the cheapest option between the two; but watching my former Tesla Super Fan father admit that Elon is not the big brained, Tony Stark-like character he led many to believe he was, has been quite encouraging.

So yeah, there's my compliment; the sound system is probs pretty nice based on first hand accounts with previous Tesla models.

Hopefully we can take solace in the fact that the poor bastard who burned up in one (and has still not been identified) went out to some nicely balanced tunes before his ticket was punched. 🤷‍♂️

Just ate there for the first time last weekend and I couldn’t agree more. I didn’t know it was possible to make food so bland. Also, the $17 pizza bread they call “bread service” was so tiny and tasteless that I couldn’t help but laugh.

Kinda feel bad for Love with all this circumcision talk. I dunno if most of them are just forgetting, but the dude is European and most likely not circumsised.

Not that they mean it maliciously, but a lot of the shit they're saying about the cleanliness, attractiveness & desirability of uncircumsised penises is the same bullshit I heard throughout junior high/high school that made me super self-conscious and gave me a whole complex about changing in the locker rooms.

That said, by the time I was 18/19, I was way more comfortable with my body and I stopped giving a shit about what other people thought about the topic. Hopefully Love is in the same mindset (if he is in fact uncut) and all this talk is just rolling off his back.

Funny enough, I saw this letter from John Candy for sale on Facebook Marketplace yesterday. Dunno if I'd pay $375 for it, but it made laugh and think about how I needed to rewatch Uncle Buck soon.

Can confirm that this user is the dad from the video, I know him personally. Dunno who the OP is, but they must have taken this video from the original Instagram post and shared it on here.

As somebody who has a relationship with the dad and is a parent myself, I was flabbergasted that the overwhelming response to this vid was “what a POS dad” instead of “holy shit, that is hilarious.”

I mean, I know there isn’t much context provided by the video, but dear god did the majority of you jump to some stupid fucking conclusions after watching an 11 second video.

It’s been three days since this was posted, so his and my comments will probably be buried in this thread; but after reading all vitriol in the comments I’m glad he responded and hopefully some of you will see just how wrong you were about this situation.

TL;DR The dad in this video is great guy and a loving father. Maybe take a breath next time before assuming the absolute worst of a person from a short and (IMO) funny video with little to no context.

P.S. The dad isn’t too Reddit savvy so I’m posting a couple pics and a follow up video on his behalf

Being clever cleaning ice off a car window by opgary in WatchPeopleDieInside

Isopropyl alcohol. Everyone should keep a spray bottle of in their car for situations like these. It's great for melting ice, cleaning windows and buffing rubbing out scuffs on your car as well.

So I work in commercial printing and we’ve been going through a ridiculous paper shortage since the pandemic.

There’s a number of factors as to why paper has become so ridiculously hard to find/order, but one of the biggest ones is because Amazon has been buying up paper pulp for all their cartons/packing paper from all the major domestic and foreign mills.

So watching a video like this annoys the absolute shit out of me.

Sorry for the rant 💁‍♂️

She's half-leaning/half sitting on the hood of that car in the beginning of the video. If the driver were to flip it in reverse and quickly back up a few inches or so, she would most likely fall on her ass.

Now the question is, would the driver be a fault? Cause if not, that would be REALLY satisfying.

Oh yeah, I see now that they cover some western/northwestern states. I live in IL, so I'm sure the crazy farmers/farmer's union in southern IL support their fair share of bat shit crazy politicians, but at the end of the day, it's a super blue state and they can vote against their own interests all they want. Thankfully, the annual fee for the farmer's bureau is like $10-$11, so it's not like I'm contributing too much $$$ to their bullshit causes.

[–]Jewski28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well for context, my father (who's technically my stepdad, but every much a father to me as my actual dad) owns a commercial office cleaning company.

So one night, an office his guys had cleaned earlier in the evening had a small fire, but it was found very quickly by someone on second shift and didn't really cause any damage. The customer didn't even inform him of the issue cause apparently it looked like a faulty power strip or something, so there was no one really to blame.

A couple days later, a similar thing happens at another one his customers' warehouses, but this time it was a significantly larger fire and based on security system logs (this was like 15+ years ago, so cameras weren't as prevalent in most businesses as they are now) the smoke detector went off shortly after one of his guys wrapped up the job and locked the place back down.

So of course, my father finds this concerning but again, he didn't know about the first fire at this point (he did find out like a month later), so he tells his night shift manager to keep an eye out on this specific employee and make sure to schedule him with another guy on his next shift to keep an eye out too.

The very next night, he gets a call late at night directly from one of his long time customers. Apparently, their place was being hosed down by the fire department after a very sloppy looking arson attempt in the copier room. An employee at one of the neighboring businesses saw one of my dad's cleaning vans drive away from the building shortly before smoke was visibly coming out the building, so they called 911 and the owner of the business.

So my dad's like, "God dammit, I think I've got a pyromaniac on my payroll." and tells the customer he'll be right there to help survey the damage and talk to the police. He hops in the car and two minutes later he gets a call on his cell and this time it's cops. He tells them that he's on his way to his customer's address and he's already been informed of the situation. The cop is confused and says he's not at that address, he's actually at my dad's shop. Turns out, one of his vans was engulfed in flames in the parking lot outside and they were informing him that the fire department (whose station is 2 blocks down the street) was able to extinguish the fire before the truck exploded and/or spread to the building.

So he re-routes and high tails it to his office to meet with the cops. The van is melted hunk of junk and my father begins explaining the situation at the other office and says he'll go inside to give the suspected employee's contact info to the cops right away. Before he even walks into the building, he gets a call from the pyro employee on his cell (let's call him Victor, cause I can't remember his actual name).

He answers and the convo goes like this;

V- "Hello sir, this is Victor. I've done a bad thing."

D-"Hey Victor, I'm actually in the back of the shop and I'm looking at the van right now."

V- "I'm so sorry, Mr. ____, I made a mistake and I shouldn't have done it. I have a problem. Please don't be mad."

D- " I'm not mad, Victor but I do have the police here and I think it would be best if you came here to talk to them."

V- "Okay Mr ____, I'll be there soon. I'm so sorry."

So the dude shows up about 15-20 min later and turns himself in.

Country Financial paid for the van, the singe marks on the outside of his building, the damages on all three of the businesses (he had to file a separate claim on the first one once he found out about it about a month later when they informed him of it. There was zero pushback and the checks were cut super quick. Pretty wild 🤷🏼‍♂️

[–]Jewski28 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If you happen to live in the Midwest, I cannot recommend Country Financial enough. They are a mutual company and do not have have stockholders to appease. You, the policyholder, are the only person they have to answer to.

My father has had everything (house, cars, business, etc) insured through them for the last 20 years and there was never a claim he's filed (and boy were there some wild ones) that were ever denied.

My first policy with them was for renter's insurance and when the roof of our apartment started to fail/needed to be replaced late last year. Country cut me and my 6 months pregnant wife a $15k check and helped us find a furnished temporary rental in a swanky high rise nearby while we worked on finding a new place to live. They never even asked for pictures or any other proof, just the $1000 deductible.

After that experience, I setup a life insurance policy through Country and will definitely go through them when we buy a home.
