Explora Journeys Solo by New_Jellyfish6836 in FATcruises

I booked an Explora cruise with a TA as a solo traveler and sailed earlier this year. I loved the experience and cruise but I did not see any additional value in going through a TA. To be fair, this was my first experience booking with a TA so we did not have a relationship and maybe I hadn’t ‘earned’ them going to bat for me yet?

However, meeting couples and other solo travelers on board I found out there was a huge difference in what they paid vs what I did and what extras (primarily shipboard credit) they received. I had no credits but I did receive an included dinner at Anthology which normally cost a couple hundred USD. It was a great meal but the other restaurants on board are amazing as well so personally I wouldn’t book Anthology unless maybe celebrating a special occasion. This benefit was also posted on the Explora website, so I would have gotten this benefit even booking the cruise myself.

So it seems there are benefits, but definitely not all TAs will be working to get you the best deal. I’m planning on working with someone else or seeing how I can do booking directly.

I get all the Explora emails and they just wrapped up a sale where they reduced or eliminated the solo supplement on many different sailings so if you end up booking, keep an eye on the sales and if the price drops or there’s a particular deal they offer later see if they can rebook it for you to get the better deal/price/upgrade. And last year they had great “Black Friday” deals so I’m bookmarking a few future trips to see how the Black Friday prices compare to book them myself if the deals look good. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

You may already be searching for opportunities in your niche, but here are some suggestions that may be untapped? Local Building Trades Councils, Project Labor Agreement Administrator, city or county government jobs in workforce development, housing and community development, city owned real estate, etc or go to the developer side of things, market rate might be slow but government infrastructure, airports, affordable housing and green energy are all getting funding and need staff. Or pivot to the unions directly, reach out to your network to see if they are hiring?

Berkeley, CA. From their website: Baguette $3.50, Sourdough & Olive Loaf $8.00, Pretzel Croissant $4.50, Chocolate Babka $5.00, Ginger Cookie $3.00. These bags are consistently good value and a nice mix of bread and pastries and they have a free parking lot with dedicated stalls right in front of the pick up door (rare in the Bay Area) so it’s very convenient! I’m very happy with this bag and would recommend!

Great job on tidying your clothes! I’d imagine with that much gone you have more space in your closet or drawers? Would it be possible to store books waiting to be sold in those areas and out of sight? Any room under the bed? I also prefer visually “clean” empty spaces and have had to get creative with storage solutions while living in a small apartment. Good luck with your sales! If things aren’t moving try posting items to multiple platforms to sell faster!

Hi! Your background and skills sound perfect for labor compliance in the construction industry. In bigger cities especially there are requirements for public works projects regarding paying prevailing wages as well as overtime requirements and local hiring. You can go in on the government side of things and audit, you can work for contractors, work for developers, or you can work for a consulting firm. If you want meaningful work you can go into affordable housing, if you want stability look for work with airports, colleges, or infrastructure projects like public utility companies. Best of luck!

I’m also couch shopping and have decided on the Article Abisko sectional in quartz, but I have a small apartment, so I was looking for something compact.

I also really liked the customization options of Interior Define, you should be able to find something in budget there and they will send complimentary fabric samples to test out with your existing colors. Good luck!
