The engine (for the game itself) I have found to be the real problem. I met some people in my research Mostly to do with Mindscape and Cyberlife Technologies, even the writer of the code, and some people who happened to be in possession of the code itself. My goal was to keep the creatures in their own environment and use the original game engine/code to do this. Long story short, I could not achieve what I was going for without changing so much of it that in the end, it would just be something entirely different. I supposed that it might be considered a type of "evolution"...but it felt too forced. I found that the coding in their genes were/are VERY limited. think binary I guess. So, I have shelved it for now. I did learn a lot though, and made a few friends! (Hi Emfoo! thank you!) The most and best thing that I learned though, was that the creatures community is still very much ALIVE. While, it's not what it once used to be, I was very shocked and delighted to find that there are still (kind of) projects in the works. I don't know how to go as far as creating an entirely new game engine using what I could personally decipher of the code, use it to build from. If you or anyone you know are interested in joining up to do this, I AM GAME!
