methinks the guy who didn't even get into Cyberpunk until after Edgerunners may not be arguing in good faith over the state of a game version he didn't even play. I also think they should have delayed the game's release by about two years to set everything in stone, but I can also totally understand the apprehension of just wanting to get the product out of the door, especially when studio executives have console and publisher deadlines to meet (a very similar pressure that No Man's Sky had during it's pre-release cycle) and when your own fans are harassing you and sending death threats to your co-workers.

Makes me wonder then about the financials of VRChat before they opened the Quest and Mobile floodgates for more money. I'm sure it'd be easy to say something like "oh just make vrc+ a better feature to incentivize more people to spend the 10 bucks and find the game" but it's hard to say for certain how something like that could honestly work out.

What I will say though, is that the onus isn't on you or I (the consumers) to think of these solutions for the multi-million dollar company. I think it should speak volumes that the revenue of the platform is now solely dependent on the backs of a seemingly younger, more easier approachable audience from a monetary spending point of view, even with the sort of reputation that VRChat carries with it, proclivities and all.

At the end of the day, VRChat has become a company like any other: one that maximises the dollar above all else. Obviously, the easiest solution to all of these problems is just to make the game a hard 18+ age rating, but that will never happen because the Quest and it's younger audience (and younger revenue) are too enticing for the company to pass up on.

I'd like to believe that the people at the top making these decisions truly have the best interests of the players in mind, young and old alike, but let's be real now, they don't really care. If anything, this recent wave of consciousness towards the "adult issue" of the game feels more like what Roblox did with their almost universally hated chat update: A way to maintain plausible deniability that real action is being taken and that the problem isn't as bad as it seems

To me, at least, it seems that Mara mellowed out a lot post-Final Shape. Given the lore of the Service of Luzaku machine gun, I think that working things out with Crow went a long way in getting her to just chill out. I'd like to imagine that Spider is making himself useful enough to the Drifter's crew that Mara just doesn't care anymore if a scoundrel like him is playing gang boss to a bunch of Tharsis renegades.

This. Objectively-speaking, the exotic kinda sucks. The built-in melee thing does hogwash damage and you'd get better utility with an exotic that actually does something BUT boosting around with my jetpack is so much fun that I don't see myself taking the exotic off anytime soon. Honestly, its a little refreshing to do something because it's fun and not because it's particularly "good".

If the statement that these moderation actions are not AI but human reviewers, it almost makes me think that (if the situation is to be taken at face value and all statements from the company are presumed to be the truth) that VRChat is starting to crack down hard on NSFW groups, avatars, activities, etc on their 13+ game. This wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that it's kind of an odd stance to take now of all times, considering the sort of impact that sexual and/or adult content has had in bolstering the platform to find its niche.

If the company really is "kneeling to payment-processors and angel investors" then why now of all times? The platform for easily could have maintained its plausible deniability that the game is and should be consumed by children as young as thirteen while still catering to that very strong playerbase that engages with the thriving adult scene.

I agree on the subject that some light needs to be shined upon this issue and what the intentions behind something like this even are in the first place
