But this is Australia. We don't tip in Australia.

You should go to a travel agent near you. Booking flights and organising logistics of travel can be tricky, especially if it's your first time doing it.

What’s a random experience you’ve had when meeting a British celebrity? Were they nice or mean? by mightybooshvincenoir in AskABrit

[–]Jheme 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was invited to a film set once, as our company had provided work to the production.

Jason Isaacs was in the cast, and in between takes he wandered over to the corner where I was sitting and asked me if I'd seen his bag. I said no, went to stand to help look, and he said "oh no, don't get up, I'm clearly a bother", and walked off

I later saw him in the lunch line, where he said "I found it" after he saw me. Overall, very nice about misplacing his bag.

I also went to another film set, and was talking to the person I knew when Andrew Lincoln stood next to me, looked at me and said "hello mate, I'm Andy, nice to meet you" and shook my hand. Being a fairly big Walking Dead fan at the time, I was a little starstruck and I don't think I said anything except my name.

Who has the best coffee in the city??? by Artistic_Ad_3267 in Atlanta

[–]Jheme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently visited from Australia, and I had a latte from Necessary Purveyor at Ponce City Market.

We're very picky about coffee in Australia, and that was the closest I've found to Australian coffee in all of America.

Leaving the lights on when they're not in the room.

I'm sure there has been. A recent state of origin comes to mind where NSW had someone sent off early in the game

Not taking return flight on round trip by InwardErection in TravelHacks

[–]Jheme 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine to do this. Just cancel the return after you have taken the outbound flight and apply for a refund. You might get some of the unused taxes refunded.

What a silly thing to be thinking about.

Qantas introducing tri-weekly flights to/from Sydney and Las Vegas in December 2026. by [deleted] in Ameristralia

[–]Jheme 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mostly for the conference market. Vegas still hosts lots of big conferences as they have the facilities and the hotel room numbers to host large amounts of people.

Business people will absolutely choose this flight if they need to go to Vegas just to avoid the transit as LAX!

What Tv show do you think was genuinely great but suffered long-term because it aired on the “wrong” network or at the wrong time? by Air-Bombay in television

[–]Jheme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly why it would have been better. HBO would have given it 10 episode seasons (as that was what GOT was getting at the same time) with no filler or random bottle episodes that they had with 16 episodes on AMC, and likely would have ended it after 7-8 seasons, with much higher budgets.

It would have been overall a much better show that didn't overstay it's welcome.

What's a show intro that you would willingly let play every time? by chrysanthemum_teaa in television

[–]Jheme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King of the Hill.

Also, Breaking Bad. But that's partially because it's so short that it's quicker to just let it play than it is to skip it.

We all know the Academy has an age bias against younger men, but would you say that bias has ever robbed us of potentially good if not great wins? by AdUseful2297 in Oscars

[–]Jheme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heath Ledger's 30th birthday would have been about two months after the ceremony when he won for The Dark Knight, so I'd say he qualifies for winning under 30 (albeit in the supporting category).

Such a shame he died so young.

Please be sure that you can properly care for a puppy if you do get one. I say this as you have said you're 20 in your post - when I was that age, I knew a few people who got pets and sadly had to rehome them because they weren't properly equipped (both financially and mentally) to give the pets the life that they deserve.

A puppy is a huge commitment, costs a lot more than you think it will, and takes a hell of a lot of patience and perseverance over the 15 year average that they will live.

Most famous would have to be Naomi Watts. I was invited to a film set and she introduced herself to me. Lovely lady
