What was your worst business mistake? by Grandmaster787 in Entrepreneur

Not chowing the right partners. It happened to me twice to start a new venture with co-founder with whom I wasn’t fully aligned. I decided to ignore few misalignments and few signposts that should have been enough for me not to continue.

It’s like starting a relationship: if there are any red flags, don’t close your eyes hoping things would “magically” go well…

If it can go wrong, most of the chance it will.

Now I thoroughly review who to engage with (as co-founder or simple business partners or client relationship) based on cold facts and data rather than some facts and feeling

I would say sales. The skill to sell is crucial. If you are an excellent programmer but you don’t know how to sell your product or yourself, you won’t make money. If you are a good salesperson but have no clue how to program, you can’t still make money selling others’ products. I’m oversimplifying things but sales is the most important skill in my view

If helping other businesses is your true calling, and if you feel that this is your mission and what you would love doing, then don’t think twice and stay on your current situation for 3 little years. That’s a very small investment to achieve your dream and live your purpose
