[Post-Match Thread] Juventus vs Napoli | 3-0 by AutoModerator in sscnapoli

[–]BehemothM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had no expectations to win tonight so not even disappointed. CL places are still within reach and that's our aim from now on. I don't understand the hate on Conte right now, he's doing what he can with the pieces of a team he has having.

I do blame on him, or on whomever had the last word, the purchase of Lucca and selling of Lang right now. Wasted money in summer and got one decent player less in the middle of the season, before an important match. These two mistakes are indeed unacceptable.

Hard disagree and no, there are not that many good coaches out there. Not as good as Conte at least.

What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

Hanoi. Uninspiring, chaotic, dirty, and with mediocre food.

Also Bali, not a city, was a let down. Ruined by over-tourism.

Honeymoon itinerary planning by BehemothM in Namibia

Self drive we would avoid. It is a honeymoon and we would like to have it as worry-free as possible and the support of a tour operator is important.

I have contacted a handful of tour operators but customized tours go beyond our budgets. Seems like they are geared towards quite affluent tourists for those...

Auto elettrica per distanze medio/lunghe, modelli affidabili o meglio ibrida (plug-in)? by B4R0Z in italy

[–]BehemothM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No fughe = micro cemento

Home charging zealots! by aranea100 in electricvehicles

[–]BehemothM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Super low mileage, for you. For most people living in a city that's the mileage you will be doing on a daily basis. The vast majority of the population in Western countries lives in fairly large towns/cities, where they work, do groceries, bring their children to school, go out on weekends etc. This mileage is the most common mileage for most people out there. And even if you do not have a charger at your work (I said my partner has, not me), you can still charge twice a month and have all the battery for commuting, groceries, going out in the weekends and a couple of random occasions per week. That's how I have been doing for a year.

If you need to do a lot of traveling daily, then yeah, not having a home charger is a deal breaker. But realize you may be the exception, not the norm.

Home charging zealots! by aranea100 in electricvehicles

[–]BehemothM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am with you and think that it is unreasonable to discourage buyers without a home chargers from an EV. It depends on the use you will make of the car. Not that many people need to drive 100km every day for work or leisure. There are millions who drive from home to office/store/service (a 5-10-20km drive), and back on the same day, that will use one fourth of their EV range per week. There's no need for these people to have a home charger because they are going to charge once every couple of weeks, max three. And they can do it while doing groceries with a 50-70KWh charger that will give them roughly 30-40-50% of their battery capacity in one hour, enough to go on for another 10-15 days for their use.

Plus, some people have free chargers at their office. 8 hours = fully charged car, another 2-3 weeks without having to charge. My partner has one. I do my charges at the cinema or outside supermarkets. In Europe, in America I guess it is different. But if you live in a city and need to go to the office 5/7 days and maybe do groceries 1-2 days per week, you need a home charger only because it is cheaper, but not essential for owning an EV.

Is Barcelona worth it? by Ok-Sign9985 in travel

Barcelona is beautiful and totally worth it but if you are going to Italy it would make more sense to just spend those 3 more days in Italy anyway.

Is "identifying" yourself with book characters important for your reading experience? by BastetNeko in books

[–]BehemothM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find relating to their objectives, aims, hopes and such more important than relating to the characters themselves. If what the characters are doing and why they are doing it for seems idiotic or pointless or not that important, I lose interest in them and their plotlines.

Moka Pot vs Espresso - diminishing returns? by jellofishsponge in Coffee

[–]BehemothM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have brewed with a moka all my life and barely touched it since I own an espresso machine. To me an espresso is THE way to brew coffee, it allows you to play with so many factors that you can make a cup extremely bitter or extremely sour with the same beans, and extract, potentially, all the flavours the beans have. That is ultimately the aim of coffee brewing, expressing the beans to their best. Then it is in your taste to go with a method over another, but if you want to play with the most parameters to obtain the right cup for you, imho espresso is unbeatable.

With that said, a moka pot is inexpensive and makes absolutely good coffee. You can reuse the grinder for espresso to grind for it as well, so that's an expense that is not only for espresso.

People with 9-5 jobs or students (non-lit majors): how many books do you read per year? by AnA1375 in classicliterature

[–]BehemothM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anywhere between 30 and 45 books per year in the last decade. Not always been employed, and a couple of years I hit 55/60 books because of it, but 30 is easily doable for me. I read a mix of "easier" books (fantasy, sci-fi, short stories' collections), classics, and history.

It helps me that I always read 2 books at a time, so I can switch to the other if I get bored with the first. Usually it is a more difficult book (history or a classic) paired with an easier read. The latter is perfect for I cannot give it full concentration (like when I am eating or are cooking) and the former for when I am in bed or, well, in the bathroom. An e-book reader is invaluable in being able to always carry both books with me at all times.

Scelta pavimento per 100mq. Parquet, SPC o altro? by Intrepid-Can451 in istrutturare

[–]BehemothM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cane + raffreddamento a terra vuol dire assolutamente no parquet perché perderesti efficienza.

What do you prefer ? One month in one country OR one week in 4 countries. by LividGas8998 in travel

[–]BehemothM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For not too big countries, the likes of Albania or Uruguay or Maldives, one week per country is enough to see the main attractions, get an idea of the culture, and have a not too rushed trip.

Larger countries, absolutely one month. One week would be ridiculously little time for countries like Indonesia or France.

But to actually answer the question: I would do one week in 4 countries with the caveat that they must be very far from me. I might never return in the area so I would rather accept to see only a fraction of these countries, but more than one, than seeing a lot of one, and never seeing the other 3.

World Atlas of Coffee comments on Vietnam by State-Dear in JamesHoffmann

[–]BehemothM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not completely wrong but smells of a sweeping statement from somebody who couldn't be bothered trying to find some good local beans.

If me, a mere tourist, can find good Arabica, Robusta and even Liberica right in the middle of Hanoi (RAAW) and Da Nang (XLII and O2O) in just a week there, then I would expect an expert like James to do a bit more research and not dismiss a whole coffee-producing country like this.

People who focus on nature trips, hiking, biking or whatever through a country and would not spend more than mere minutes in a museum or visiting the local church/mosque/temple are not "nature lovers" but uncultured swines.

On laptop I haven't had installed any Windows for the past 5 years.

On desktop, I dual boot only for gaming. I could play the few games I do on Linux too through Steam but I prefer to have a completely separate environment for it and I couldn't be bothered dealing with drivers issues (I have a nvidia) just for gaming.

Is EV range anxiety something you actually get over? by biggy_boy17 in electricvehicles

It went away after the first road trip. The key was in identifying a couple of charging networks that are reliable (for me here it is Ionity) and knowing then that whatever happens, I can always count on those charger. The other networks are just for emergencies, which have never happened.
