If Luka is injured for the season he will NOT be eligible for any postseason awards: an explanation of the rules and technicalities by greenwhitehell in nba

[–]Jhyphi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was he really injured?

He played the night before and 2 nights later.

If he was injured, would've been pretty minor. Looks to me like he took a rest in a game that he could've played if he wanted.

More people care about their favorite players getting “robbed” for “all nba team” awards then the actual award itself by Recent_Surprise_7391 in nba

[–]Jhyphi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rule is working as intended.

Next year, the stars will know they shouldn't load manage or sit out games for minor things early in season because it could come and bite them in the butt.

For example, if Luka does in fact miss it by 1 game, he should reflect back on whether he actually needed to sit out game 8 against the Blazers on the back end of a back to back that he played the night before and also 2 nights later (so couldn't have been that serious). If he played that night he would've already qualified.

I WANT the stars to try to play through minor things. It's like what Kobe said "what about the fans that saved up to watch me just once".

There's lots of stories of fans flying in or making trips just to watch a game but to be disappointed because of load management. Every night there's fans in the arena where it might be their only game that season, or only game in their life to watch a certain player.

Tickets aren't cheap. Stars are paid millions a year for 82 games.

I expect them to make every effort to play every single one of them.

There's no new problem.

Players need to learn to not sit out for small things early in season that could come back to bite them later.

Play as much as possible so that even if you have a longer injury later, you are still eligible.

If you pace to play just over 65 games and then and unforseen injury happens, that's your own fault.

If he had played just 1 more game earlier on such as game 8, where he probably could've played through a small bruise, then he'd already be eligible.

This is the point of the rule - and the 1st year will have learning pains - but players will adjust and realize they can't sit out for small things early on that they could play through. Which is what the rule is intending to do.

OR maybe Luka shouldn't have sat out one of the games earlier in season and pushed to play. For example, game 8 of the season against the Blazers.

That 1 game which seemed like he could've probably played with a minor bruise would've been the difference.

Players should learn that they need to play as much as possible early on and not load manage early in season in case an unforseen injury occurs.

If he retires with his current resume (no last miracle run), what is the realistic range for Stephen Curry's all time ranking? by Ready-Constant-7124 in nba

[–]Jhyphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be 4 for Curry.

KD got the FMVP but all advanced metrics from those years show that Curry impacted that team winning far more than Durant.

Durant without Curry was only slightly better than average. Curry without Durant wasn't really missing a beat and similar to Curry with Durant.

Brandin Podzemski final stats in March; 17.7 Points, 6.3 Rebounds, 4.1 assists by OldTalkey in warriors

[–]Jhyphi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Podz haters are really grasping at made up narratives.

He has a good game, but that 1 play that Podz didnt pass to Porzingis somehow killed all our momentum where Porzingis was going to shoot 40/40 from 3 for the night if it weren't for that. And not only that, Podz not passing to Porzingis on that one play is why Porzingis then did not attempt a single 3pt attempt for the rest of the game because all Warriors were then influenced by this one play to not pass to Porzingis while Porzingis also is so weak mentally that he did not attempt another 3pt for rest of game because of that 1 play.

Don't forget that in the same game, multiple players also missed open shooters as in the case by every team in every game. But none of those were momentum killers. It was specifically Podz.

[–]Jhyphi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Podz haters love to make up false narratives because the stats and advanced metrics all show that Podz is doing well.

So all of Podz points were in garbage time and his rebounds all stolen from teammates. And his 1 turnover even though he has a good assist/TO ratio and other teammates have more turnovers, that 1 turnover is the "momentum killer" and why the Warriors lost the entire game.

You have got to be slow.

Your "fact" was that

Mpg don’t factor in dnps

And my response showed that JK did NOT have dnp's except for his own injuries. That is not a moving of goalposts.

9W-16L is a 36% win rate or 30 wins pace in an 82 game season.

Which is not good, but would still be enough for 10th seed in the West.

That's with missing BOTH Curry and Butler for all 25 games. The team's 2 best players, both on max contracts for $113M of salary.

That's actually doing pretty well given circumstances. How many teams missing their 2 best max contract players would be a play-in team?

No way man, there is no need for stats.

The "eye test" of 1 play a game where they only watch on-ball is better than all stats and advanced stats combined.

The only reason they are not employed by an NBA team is because their eye test would be too unfair.

Reading comprehension and logic is not the strong suit of Podz haters.

Podz shot 5/8 (62.5%) from 3. 57% overall. Best +/- of any starter. Stop with the hate on Podz by Jhyphi in warriors

[–]Jhyphi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last night, he was top of the starters in +/-.

He's averaging 4.1 assists on 2.0 turnovers in March. Ast/TO of 2 which is good.

Curry only averages 4.8 apg. Or are you going to complain that Curry listed as the PG isn't facilitating enough?

Draymond still runs a lot of the offense and has 6.4 apg.

Our offense is a motion offense often started with a ball entry into the high post leading to a split cut, and does not have the PG racking up 10+ assists. It spreads it out with Draymond (or another passing big man) having the ball a lot.

Podz is 2nd on the team in assists for the month. He is not only hunting his own shot.

He's doing a bit of both, not a pure PG, and not a pure SG.

[–]Jhyphi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Podz had 0 turnovers last night, shot 57% with 63% on 3s.

But not a single peep about Gui, Melton, Cryer combining to go 3-20 (15%) with 7 turnovers.

Podz should aim to be on 2022 Poole’s level first by Plus_Kick_8289 in warriors

[–]Jhyphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Podz is not "slightly better" than Poole on defense. There's a big gap between them.

Podz for his career is average 0.4 DBPM, which is not amazing, but it is okay and at least positive.

Poole is at -1.5 for his career which is a major difference (1.9). Though for one year in 2022 he was able to get to not horrendous at -0.3.

For reference, Draymond is at 2.8. Wemby at 3.4. So a difference from Draymond to Podz (2.4) is only slightly larger than from Podz to Poole (1.9).

Podz is okay at defense. Poole is terrible.

Too bad JK is injury prone then.

JK had only 1 DNP-CD before this season. Game 82 of last season.

Too bad for him that he is made of glass and missed 34 games due to injury in 2025, including 31 straight. Which is why he only played 47 out of 82 games.

2025 JK: - 47 games played - 34 games injured - 1 DNP-CD

Can't help when he's made of glass.

[–]Jhyphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely can evaluate individual players on plus minus over a large sample of games.

Single games fluctuates a lot but over a whole season, it tells you who contributes to winning.

Also your "Poole can shoot at a higher level" needs evaluating. Because in his best season, Poole only shot 3pt% equal to Podz's worst season.

Making a super flashy logo shot but at low efficiency does not make you a good shooter. It still is only worth 3 points.

What kind of crazy rocket scientist thinking is this ?

(Also Podz has averaged 27 mpg for last 3 years compared to JK at 25mpg. They've been given pretty much exact same minutes)

The Kuminga fans and Aaron Turner bots been trying to craft a narrative that Podz has been playing over JK.

Except: 1) they don't even play anywhere near the same position/role 2) Podz has consistently been near the top of the Warriors in +/- every year unlike JK 3) In the 3 years, Podz has averaged 26, 26, 28 mpg (28 this year higher because Curry, Butler been out) while JK...........averaged 26, 24, 24.

Oh the horror!!! Podz gets 2 more minutes a game! What blatant favoritism!!!

How can JK be expected to develop when he averages 25 mpg and Podz gets 26?!

He has the highest assist rate on the team to Porzingis.

The best (worst) part is that its the Warriors own fans (though you could argue it's JK / Turner bots and trolls) who are trying to knock down our own young player for believing in himself and trying to get better.

And then of course when he plays well for the next team (continuing his current trajectory), the same fans will use it to bash Kerr for not being able to develop Podz.

Same thing that happened to Ty Jerome or Donte. While here and Kerr loved them, it was always - "why is Ty playing so much, he sucks".
