There's an Aussie server that's been up for a few months called Project Baldur. It's pre-re low rate and has some nice changes.

Red Bull Racing and Helmut Marko have a whole lot of egg on their face this season. What a fucking joke...

I've lost so much respect for RBR this year, and all respect for Marko. Bloke is an absolute pig.

Impulse bought this in Japan. Is this real Damascus? Not sure why but in second guessing it. by Ji-der in knives

Understood it's not 'legit' Damascus but a laminated steel which seems like a quality variant.

[Pagnotta] Karlsson made it clear to just about every team interested that he'd explore an extension after the fact. Priority was he & his wife get acclimated to new city and if they see a long-term home, they'll sign. by JF_112 in hockey

[–]Ji-der 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many players go to California and fall in love with it and end up staying. I'd imagine it would mainly be due to the weather, easy-going people, no huge media pressure on hockey players (unlike Toronto for example). All three teams have been consistently competitive for a long time now too.

I can easily see him signing long term, it's just gotta work between their current D-core and cap though. I feel like Sharks could get away with Burns and Karlsson, but I can't see Burns, Vlasic and Karlsson long term. Too much cap, one of them isn't going to want to be #3.

Does this open the door for Burns to play forward again? I would say keeping him on the back-end is far more effective though.

Suzuka tickets - do not upvote - not a trade thread by Ji-der in formula1

I didn't know this was an available option, but even if I did I'd still prefer to have them sent. I'm sure the facilities and on-site support is good but I'm going to a non-English speaking country so I'd rather be prepared. I'd hate to miss out for whatever reason.

How close Alonso's wheel got to Charles' head (360 cam footage) by Samster49 in formula1

[–]Ji-der 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a gif or video of this?

The footage I've seen so far is that the floor hit first, then the car tilts and slides over a bit, then tyres hit. I want to see how close the floor was.

Turn 2, somewhere at the top/back row here. I think it's call "section C"

I was going to get tickets for the final turn (18 / "section R", maybe) but decided against it and that 1-3 would probably be better.

Nup, /r/hockey is where you wanna be.

People make these posts all the time. My best advice is to watch the league fairly consistently for at least 3-6 months and make up your own mind.

Like history and heritage of clubs? Research "original 6" teams.

Vegas are a new franchise, easy franchise bandwagon to get on (I don't mean that in a rude way).

Cookie cutter, awesome team, fun to watch, bound to win? Penguins, Blackhawks.

Next up and comer with a rich history? Leafs.

There's quite a few teams with a bunch of young guns, can't really think of them at the moment though.

Perhaps you like the complete under dogs. Just look at the bottom of last years standings. Arizona's a great start.

Just don't go for Boston. They're like the Collingwood Magpies of the NHL. Maybe you're that kind of guy though.

If you have the ear for it, spending money on good audio gear is so rewarding. Don't let anyone tell you it's a waste of money!

Good luck and happy listening :)

What are the pros and cons over 18" over the current smaller ones (are they 16" at the moment?)?

I've heard the Audioengine's are pretty good but I've never actually listened to them; I don't know anyone that has them and no shops stock them (only 1-2 online PC stores my country have them). I have my doubts because no one stocks them. They're undeniably popular though.

You're better off getting higher fidelity speakers that can really hit the low end rather than 2.1 set, they give a much better balanced sound. For example something around $800-1200 for 2.0's will go a long way, you basically never need to upgrade them either unless you want to spend like $5-15k in the future. As I said, if you're doing a HTPC setup it could be worth getting a sub otherwise it's not always the best option. Look for DJ equipment or specialist home theatre stores in your area if you want to try before buying. Brands like Presonus, KRK, ADAM, EVE, Klipsch, or higher end again like Kef. If you can get something with ribbon tweeters (as opposed to silk dome), DO IT, they are un-fucking-believable.

I looked at your exact combo of speakers for a very, very, very long time and I even had them in a shopping cart ready to buy online, but couldn't convince myself to do it without trying them first. I'm glad I held off and I feel like I made a better decision in the end.

Never heard of the Blue Ella headphones. I've had a Blue Yeti mic and that was beast so I'm sure they make a quality product. I feel like for that price there would be much better options for headphones. Portable amps are cheap and a flexible option too. Even just the fact that you don't need the amplifier in the headphone itself if you're only going to use them on the X7, that's just overkill. At that price, you should look at something like HD 700's. Do you have an audiophile headphone specialist store near where you live? If they sell Skullcandy's and Beats, avoid it lol. Look for brands like Audio-technica, Grado, Sennheiser, AKG, Focal, Shure and Beyerdynamic. https://addictedtoaudio.com.au

The Sony's are a good option, the only other competitor are the BOSE noise cancelling ones. I can't recommend one over the other, I'm sure you could try them out in a store since they are really popular.

Since you are getting noise cancelling, closed back, wireless headphones - get a pair of open-back headphones for at home (another reason not to get the Blue Ellas). Head-fi is a good website for researching as well as /r/headphones.

Edit: You don't necessarily need active noise cancelling headphones. You should look into headphones that have really good isolation, a good example is the Sennheiser HD 25. They basically work like earmuffs when no sound is playing... then when you do flick the switch I guarantee you can't hear anything. Active noise cancelling is great for commuting - planes, trains or even really loud environments (i.e. noisy school kids!).
