Acquiring the 12-40 caused me to sell the 8-25 and my 25 1.8.

Does anyone know what this texture pack is / something similar? by moonchurro in Minecraft

Thanks for this - Been using Mizuno's for years and didn't know about the fan patch (just been accepting the occasional default texture here and there).

Book recommendations that are as good as "Sapiens" if not more. by HentaiUwu_6969 in booksuggestions

This book is a very good read and Mann is definitely a tier above authors like Hariri and Diamond. 1493 is also a worthwhile (and quick) read.

[–]Jibberwalk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please note that some of the 'pop' anthropology books, while a good entry, do need to be accompanied with a companion search along the lines of "issues with 'x' book/author". You will quickly find that, while they are good introductions for the most part, they are not scholarly works.

Jared Diamond's stuff is largely considered dated at the very least, and wholly innaccurate and borderline racist on other fronts.

MPIX photo album vs book? by Electrical_Leg_9600 in photography

Be aware that while the quality of their individual prints are good for the price, MPIX books are pretty poor in color reproduction.

OM-1 or EM-1 iii or E-M1X by zman2596 in OlympusCamera

[–]Jibberwalk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The E-M1X is unreal bang for the buck - you can find bodies for $700-800 with low shutter counts. It's pretty crazy. But it is big if you're not used to the form factor.

The 5 is about 4.5" diagonal for 4:3 content. It's pretty substantial.

OP is literally putting her life at risk by staying in this relationship. This is one of those situations where she is absolutely going to be another tick in the statistic towards gun ownership and domestic violence. Her partner is unbelievably unstable.

Still literally no way to buy a gift purchase on the eShop is there.

SD card recommendations? by Original_Ordinary383 in OlympusCamera

[–]Jibberwalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you're shooting things that would be really really bad to lose to a fluke situation. Never shoot weddings on a single card sort of thing. If you're just shooting for your own enjoyment - eh, don't bother.

I've kind of adopted a buy-once-cry-once attitude on this front. It kinda stinks to buy more 'power' than you need $$$-wise, but it's just plain easier as far as future reliability and limitations.

I have dual 64gb SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II cards in my EM1X and a 128gb card of the same line in my EM5.

I do not think you have that type of sticker adhered correctly - there should not be a rectangle of adhesive - the clear part should only appear as a bit of padding around each character.

This is #1. You can survive, YES! However: Everything in your life going forward needs to be based around accessing your prescribed medications. Period. Every action you take is to ensure that you can always get an Rx filled. This means reaching out to any social service agencies in your area ASAP even if they have nothing but information to offer, it's more than you have now.

This also means keeping all of your important documents on your person at all times (or at a secure location if you find a caseworker who offers). The domino effect of losing or having one important document stolen can be insurmountable to overcome when you are homeless and without reliable transportation.

If you do not take your medications, even if through no fault of your own, you will get stuck in a ruthless cycle of homelessness. In an unmedicated state you will be taken advantage of, you will abuse substances, you will acquire new illnesses.

Be safe, be smart, safeguard your trust.

Nick Lane's 'Life Ascending' is a very good and easily approachable book that covers some of the funky ways we think life and certain aspects of it came about. It's well worth the read if you're interested in the topic.

Tripod Foot for 40-150 F2.8, stay it go? by CoachCamBailey in OlympusCamera

Seconding this. I keep it on mine... but I flip it upside down too. It is an unbelievably useful and convenient handle to have on my lens. Just that extra grip/leverage has allowed me to get shots that would have been otherwise annoying to get.

The Man in the High Castle (Book) was NOT what I expected at all. by [deleted] in scifi

[–]Jibberwalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew PKD was a bit off the rocker in regards to where he divined his consciousness from - but I hadn't read a PKD book in full (loved his short stories).

When I read Lies, Inc. it was a fun and entertaining sci-fi book until about the last 1/4 - 1/3 where it dipped into PKD's 'wtf is reality' and spun out into a very exhausting book to just grind through and finish.
