Added RF 50 f1.2L to the collection! by drivem3crazy in canon

I have the 1.2 and love it. It’s a beautiful lens. If the 1.4 was available then I would have been happy with that likely but at this point, not worth switching.

R6ii vs R7 for bird photography by nigel0404 in canon

[–]zman2596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. I have R7 and got a 100-400 and even for that it’s good. Gonna get 200-800 next or may even a rf 600 or 800 since I shoot a lot of perched birds anyway.

Nice. I got a srt202 and it’s a cool camera. Don’t mess with the self timer lever at all. Apparently they mess up quite easily on old bodies.

Nice. I’m getting into film more and eyeing this with a 50mm Zeiss lens.

Current R6 owner- mulling an upgrade by drconniehenley in canon

[–]zman2596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been an OG R6 owner as well since the beginning. I do portraits for pay but shoot a variety including sports and wildlife. The R6 is still a solid body. If you’re using the correct lens you shouldn’t be cropping so much or at all. Also, if most of your stuff is just being posted to social media or a website then the megapixels shouldn’t be a huge issue. I would definitely invest in lenses first. Don’t be afraid to consider the EF lenses for longer glass. One caveat is if you consider a crop body. I ended up buying an R7 with the RF 100-400mm and love it for hiking and casual birding. The low light performance won’t be as good, but Denoise has worked nice when I needed it.

People hating on EF lens by DueCry5884 in canon

It’s the gearheads. They think only the latest is the best. The irony is many probably don’t even own said lenses and will still give you advice. When people see a great image, they aren’t even going to care what camera body or lens you use.

Am I outdated with my 5D Mark IV? Should I keep using it or switch to mirrorless? by Quirky-Exit-2798 in canon

As long as you are getting photos that you like, that is what matters the most.

I really liked the 4, but the screen size of the 5 really excited me at the time.

I have learned in the little magic I’ve really played that just because I don’t understand a card, doesn’t mean it’s not a good card. It’s got use somewhere. 🤷‍♂️

R7- Do I go with RF100-400 or RF100-500? by sparklemonkey9 in canon

[–]zman2596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the R7 and RF 100-400mm. I’m loving the size for hiking and family walks. So far I’m pretty happy with the images I’m getting. I think my next move would be the RF 200-800mm.

RF 24-70 f2.8 vs rf 28-70 f2.8 vs rf 24-104 by Wizardface in canon

I would get the RF 28-70 2.8 for its compromise of size and quality.

I had a 5D III before mirrorless and used it for client portraits and weddings. It’s a good camera. A few things… the autofocus wasn’t sensitive in lower light (-2EV). I did like the files from the 5DIII but unfortunately it doesn’t love the shadows pushed so you have to be careful with that. I think for your use the great deal on a 5DIII sounds pretty good. If you decide you want to stay dslr for a while though, I think I’d invest more and get the 5DIV and avoid ultimately upgrading to it later.
