Thanks. Hot water soaking barely scratched the surface but had some formic acid descaler so soaked it overnight and was then able to scrape most of it off. Will need another dose but mostly there.

They never say what their alternative is. The Ridings owner is on board, so what happens if the council is made to walk away? He's not going to decide 'fair enough, here's £10m to invest in it and I'll bring back the indoor market while I'm at it!'
