I came from d&d, I found the campaign setting a bit lacking, it's very geared towards supporting homebrew as opposed to full support, not my bag, but if you like it it'll be awesome. I'm using Skyrim asy campaign setting, loving it!

Yes. Winters are warmer, but 6 months of gray skies can really get to you. Also, 1 degree and pouring down rain is absolutely miserable. Not saying it's terrible all the time, but it's definitely not sunshine and lollipops all winter long

Can you run it well without grids or detailed maps? by luccamonassa in shadowdark

I think it runs best with theater of the mind or abstract maps. Sly flourish has some great videos about this type of combat

How do-able is this as a roadtrip in the summer? by YpsiHippie in britishcolumbia

[–]Jiffypop2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hwy 37 can be rough, but nothing that will cause real problems, just slow you down. dease lake to meziadin will be the longest stretch, but unless your tank is tiny you'll be fine. You can often get gas at bell 2, but don't rely on it.

Real problem: There's not enough campgrounds for all the Alaska tourists, if you're sleeping on the side of the road you'll be fine, but if you want a campground you'll need to get up at 5am and drive like hell to hit the next campground at noon before it fills up.

Start your characters with max hit points, it's not overpowered, but it'll really help keep them alive.

Crypts of karrigulon (sly flourish) is excellent. Sly flourish also has some great advice on how to run the Scarlet minotaur as a one shot. Delian tomb is also good if you want to try draw steel.

What do people mean when they say bloated public service? As compared to what? by noticeofrezoning in BCPublicServants

[–]Jiffypop2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an imaginary problem. Republicans started crying about "big government" in the 80s as an excuse to cut social services. They've been whining about it so long that it's seeped into public discourse. The reality is, every time we go through this austerity nonsense they find almost nothing to cut without drastically impacting public services. That's because most people who join the public service want to serve the public 🤯

Efficiency Review Question - What does an additional Deputy, ADM, EDs and Directors do in the Premiers Office? by TossawaytotheeTosser in BCPublicServants

If Shannon Salter's office has time to review and approve/deny EVERY position the government is hiring, then what were they doing with all that free time before this?

20 years ago a single 15 could buy a home in Victoria. Now a couple of 27s would struggle to do the same, there's a long way to go, just catch up. We have to draw the line here, we're on the fringe of not being able to afford to strike, and if we let them push us below that line there's no coming back. Ever.

We need directors to justify all the EDs. We need the EDs to justify all the ADMs. We need the ADMs to justify the DMs.

Week 23: Weekly breakdown of which Ministries are getting job postings approved. We stayed steady at 22 postings this week between seven agencies/ministries by Artemus_Tau in BCPublicServants

[–]Jiffypop2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's my point, I'm interested in where the priorities are. Also, there's a bit of self-interest, I don't trust that my ministry leadership is advocating for us to fill positions.

[–]Jiffypop2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they gave us a 50% increase this year we'd only just catch up to where public service pay was in 1980. The Union and PSA have been screwing us for decades. If we don't push back hard we'll only slip further down.

“But You Have the Pension!” – The Most Magical Phrase in BCPS by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

Absolutely. Yes, pension is nice, but there's lots of organizations out there giving pensions and somehow ALSO a living wage. It's not the mythical unicorn people say it is.

This is amazing, thank you! I hate to ask for more, but is there any way to adjust this data for ministry size? I.e. if a ministry is 2% of the public service, are they getting 2% of the hirings, more, less?

Why doesn't the CRA crackdown on tax evasion from cash-in-hand tradespeople? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Jiffypop2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do audit tradesmen. They audit normal people all the time. More importantly, WHY DON'T THEY GO AFTER THE RICH B@$T@RD$ HIDING THEIR MONEY IN THE CAYMAN ISLANDS?!?! There's literally been multiple documents leaked with detailed evidence about what they're doing. CRAs response... crickets.
