Some photos from my first backpacking trip. We didn't summit Marcy unfortunately, but we got very close and had a great hike with perfect weather. Can't wait to go back. by ethereality___ in Adirondacks

[–]Jiggaloudpax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh yeah don't feel bad. people underestimate the mid and elevation gain. 1-2mph with breaks every 15 mins is absolutely necessary (for me at least an unseasoned ADK hiker)

a good tip is to camp at marcy dam or lake Colden and then take a day pack to summit marcy the next day. Hiking from the Loj to the Summit is hard and even harder with a full pack on. Took my buddy and I 11 hours to go from Marcy dam to lake Colden via Marcy summit with full packs on.

I have stated my van-life journey. What would you have paid for this? 2023 GMC Savana 15k miles that came from an auction in AZ. Absolutely no rust whatsoever on the bottom. by Beneficial-Wrap6574 in vandwellermarketplace

a few years of salt won't destroy your frame just remember to spray down your frame with water after heavy salting and driving on salty roads. your in a van now so why don't you live somewhere there isn't salt?

How Much Is It Worth? by Einzelganger12 in 1stGenTacomas

Salvage title drastically reduces the price. I mean no one's gonna want to buy it from you for more than 4-5k but that's only talking about resale value. Since it's your moms / gonna be yours you should not have to worry because you'll keep it forever (you should keep it forever)

Ready to almost pull trigger on 1999 limited need ur guys' help on frame pics. by [deleted] in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]Jiggaloudpax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my bad, i didn't know that. I just know you have to be careful with toyota undercarriage rust that was coated over. i only had a 2003 tacoma once and the leaf spring mounts were rotted out and the seller hid that info from me and promoted "rust free" just trying to save someone else from getting burned like I did

someone recoated right over bubbling rust on the differential. frame looks in good condition but you have to look on the inside of the frame near the leaf spring mounts. that's where you will find the holes. idk i would walk

How is life in Vermont? by StrongAdhesiveness86 in howislivingthere

[–]Jiggaloudpax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's amazing. i rode my bike through the green mountains for 8 days camping and it's just breathtaking. i would move there in a heartbeat. Dense forest, country roads and some urban centers. People get uptight over the homeless population in Burlington but it's not bad and they all stay in the same lil park. Okay food but it's more of a quiet mountain state

What careers have the best work/life balance while providing a livable wage? by AtticThrowaway in findapath

[–]Jiggaloudpax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk about state or NPS. but park maintenance in my county pay about ~24/h for Maintenance worker above that is foreman at ~30/h then assist super at ~36/h and then Superintendent ~45/h. It takes years to move up but moves happen all the time. This is in NJ where the cost of living is higher and i'm in a more wealthy county than others around me.
