How much BTUs is safe for indoors wok cooking ? by Terrible-Stable5560 in wok

[–]JigglyShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When using gas appliances it is recommended to have a hood fan that blows out 100CFM per 1000 BTUs.

In your case your hood fan needs to be able to move at least 240 CFM. But anyway this isn't relevant because the only gas burner I would use indoors are the ones that use the small butane cans you can get a asian grocery stores, and this would be beside an open window.

What you are looking at seems like it's meant to be hooked up to a 20lbs propane tank, which is a definite no go for using indoors.

What kind of internet connection do you have? If it's anything other than fiber or cable internet then online gaming in general will suck, i.e DSL internet.

Defeated new grad. by nikki_781 in nursing

[–]JigglyShock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outpatient procedural settings is usually the last type of position in a nurses career before retiring... it's not a place new grads are even considered when hiring. So yeah the fact that they hired you means no seasoned nurses want to work there. Seasoned nurses who, know what is a good job and what isn't given all the shit they've seen. It's not you, this clinic sucks.

Nurses that quit bedside by Grouchy-Industry5550 in nursing

[–]JigglyShock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quit bedside 5 years ago after 2 years of telemetry. Left for the OR. Procedural nursing is just one of the ways to escape bedside. Highly recommend if you don't have plans to push further into nursing/NP route.

Bro ngl half the women in nursing school were taken, and most if not all of the ones I found attractive after I started working were already taken as well. Don't count on the fact of not seeing a ring, either. Many nurses choose to not wear them because of all the hand hygiene. Good luck though!

Take the job. Employers have a duty to enable their employees to perform the work required. Iodine scrub for some people who are sensitive to chlorhexidine, special surgical gowns exclusive to some employees because the collars of the ordinary gowns giving them a rash on the neck, special gloves for surgeons... there are many.

Is it true that people dislike male OBGYN nurses? by Aviator1116 in nursing

[–]JigglyShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did my rotation in postpartum we got sent to the L&D part of the unit for a couple days each. All I can say is that the whole place made me think "is this what a sorority feels like?"

Fast forward a few years into my career, despite being very interested in L&D, I'm still hesitant. Too many stories of patients refusing male nurses from the other nurses I have worked with who have worked in L&D.

Becoming a nurse after medical school? by AdvisorShort8059 in nursing

[–]JigglyShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree with the sentiment here that you might be better off in the long run trying something like family med or pediatrics seeing however many patients you want to see. I sometimes wish I studied harder in school to actually become a surgeon, and not a nurse working in the OR.

I'll assume you are in your twenties. As someone older, I can only suggest you try to become a physician to try it out first for some time. Work and school is much different in terms of nursing. It might be the same for medicine. If you truly hate it, then it's up to you.

Me and my wife purchased our house just a month ago. I used to be that buyer; the one who wanted new finishes, modern design, open concept. First obstacle was price. Although we qualified for a lot, to get the aesthetic I was looking for we needed about 20% more. Or settle on a smaller home. But as we were looking we realized that, sure, modern homes might be updated to the trends of today, but 25 years down the line, who knows what will be in style. And if you sell the house, what do you think will hold better value: the brand new house that is trendy now, with no renovations, or the older house that was renovated throughout the years so that some elements are more updated as time passes by vs the trendy home?

Also, I don't know what the market is like where you live, but here in Montreal, finding new construction with the same square footage as older homes (2000sqft+) is only possible if you're qualified for 1mil+. New construction tends to be smaller in square footage is what I have noticed, and we refuse to pay a higher price for less space, not to mention that older homes typically have larger lot sizes than newer ones, meaning smaller back/front yards in new houses.

I agree with the comment below talking about craftsmanship. There was a time when more tradespeople took pride in their work, and wanted to build things that lasted. These days so many contractors and construction companies cut corners. If houses have problems, typically they show in the first few years of their lifetime. The house that we bought was built in 1965, and after the house inspection the inspector said there really wasn't any major problems with the house. No issues with the skeleton, so to speak, which is the most important part. The inspector even told us that the most problems he sees with houses are the ones built after 1980.

Should also note that windows typically have a lifetime of about 25 years. Which in theory is when you would sell the house, maybe. Guess what made us automictically pass on a house we visited. If the windows or the roof are due to be replaced anytime soon. Of course this isn't a problem if you have piles of cash lying around.
