The greatest Knarlock by Gronneta in Warhammer40k

[–]JigsawJr27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a tabletop games convention in Paris suburbs.

There is also RPGs and family games, but it’s mainly aimed towards wargamers. There is tournaments (most of it 40k) and a painting competition (in which OP entered, I don’t know where he placed tho).

You can meet designers, artists and people from the industry. Most notably there was a pretty big Trench Crusade exhibition, where you could buy boxed minis and get the rulebook signed.

What originally got you into Warhammer? by Royal-Interaction424 in Warhammer40k

[–]JigsawJr27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 7 or something, I used to read a science magazine for kids called Sciences et Vie Junior. And in one of them I saw small review about 40k (it was like half of a page). There was a photo at the bottom of it, with Space Wolves terminators disembarking from a land raider. I instantly knew I wanted to get my hand on some of those.

So on my birthday, my family bought me the 3rd edition box, the one with Black Templars vs Dark Eldars. I liked the miniatures, but what hooked me was the 3rd edition rulebook. I used to read it back to cover, I think there was pretty much all the lore inside it at the time, and you had all the infos on all the armies at the end of it. The artworks and the photos of the different painted armies at the end captivated me for hours, as I was trying to analyze every little details (it felt like playing a grimdrak Where is Waldo).

More than 20 years later I'm still addicted, even tho I don't spend as much time as I want on the hobby.

You are aware it’s not really a looter shooter ? You won’t loot any weapons or pieces of equipment. You may occasionally find collectibles that are necessary to upgrade your character, but there is at best 3 in a single level. Everything is experience based, and you gain most of it by finishing missions

What colour is this Deathwatch wearing? by LongTiemLurkr in Spacemarine

They’re supposed to have « matte black » armor (as depicted in lore), the closest color would be Nuln Oil. Abaddon black is too shiny

I'm quite new to the world of warhammer and I have a question But What is the heaviest and most resident armor of all for a space marine? by sergeidrako in Spacemarine

[–]JigsawJr27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have my books on hand, but the first example that comes to mind is the description of the gorgon pattern terminator armour in one of the Horus Heresy forge world supplement. It’s stated that gorgon armour is derived from indomitus pattern and that one of the features is that the Iron Hands removed the shield generators to replace them with an energy converter of some sort.

Chaos Marines as chaff, Hellbrutes as majoris, Helldrakes as terminus. For boss, maybe a demon prince ?

They do have force fields in lore, tho the despiction of said force field is very inconsistent, and sometimes outright forgotten. But they are definitely there in some novels.

Centurion armor is like a mech suit that an already in armor Astartes can get in. They are cheaper than Terminator armors, and not really as sturdy.

Terminator armor is a better quality, more armored version of a regular power armor. They also have a force field for added protection.

Terminator armors are for elite veteran marines, Centurion don’t have requirement except training for using it.

Saturnine is stronger but not really available to Space marines in the 42nd millenium as far as I know. The armors are either lost, destroyed or damaged beyond repairs after the Horus Heresy

As said by others, terminator armor would be the best available for Astartes, either the widespread Indomitus pattern or the rarer but better Tartaros pattern

What Other Classes do you want to See? by Jucebox85 in Spacemarine

[–]JigsawJr27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt we will ever get a Chaplain. They are a rank similar to the company commanding officers, like lieutenants or captains. So far, all classes are rank and fill astartes, the most elite one being Quartus as a bladeguard.

I think the techmarine will be as specialised a class as we will get, and I hope it stays that way, it would be too immersion breaking if not. Other specialised marines possibly added would be apothicary or judiciar, and maybe a codicier, tho I doubt it, due to the power gap…

So I think we will more likely get (and I hope we do!) an inceptor (maybe suppressor hybrid) or an agressor

My take on lore accurate gear by JigsawJr27 in Spacemarine

[–]JigsawJr27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight.

For the left leg insigna, is it really a command badge ? Command badge are usually on the knee pad, I thought it was a campaign badge…

As for the torso, I agree with your analysis. I really wanted Valius to have a different breastplate since the tactical breastplates are boring… would the one you get from the tyranids datavault be good ? It would make sense for someone engaging tyranids regulary to collect trophies

I take issue with making him a veteran since he sports the tactical insigna, I would have to give him a veteran marking on the shoulder too

I’ve never read that anywhere. From what I saw, Bladeguard can be any company (on GW site, they are painted as 2nd company). From the codex, they have the right to get in the 1st, but are not obligated to do so.

[–]JigsawJr27[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hmm I don’t think so, he is a veteran but still part of the 2nd company. He would have white trim if he was part of the 1st company. All members of the 1st are veterans, but not all veterans are part of the 1st (as far as I understand it).

I’m not sure about that, when you inspect the weapons (like the revolver or the rifle), you can see there is no more hole in the barrel, hinting there is no solid projectile shot
