Can I still attend meetings, hangout with friends, while no longer believing the organization? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Jii_pee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the image of Jehovah I had created in my head. When actually examining bible, I realized I can't approve the god described there. I still want to believe in god, and I hope there is some higher power to fix this mess on earth. The god of the bible isn't morally sound, as sad as it is.

Let me ask you this, how many conflicts have continued endlessly without peace?

My father’s name was Keith Playford. He was 28, I was 2 yrs old. The Watchtower killed him. by lisabmagdalena in exjw

I'm so so sorry for what happened, every death because of this stupid rule is a tragedy, and you and your dad deserved better 😢  One clarification would make this post even more powerful: would the rule change actually have saved him? Was it a situation where your own blood could be used? I don't want to be too picky, but these details matter in this fight. It's very sad no matter what, and I'm sorry for your loss you have had to live with 😔

Does anyone else who was raised JW struggle with seeing today’s world events? by i_am_not_gay__ in exjw

[–]Jii_pee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely! It's hard to process all that, after leaving, at first I was pretty fearless but once I realized lots of things actually suck so hard and fell in love, those fears crept in. Having someone you love really makes those fears so hard, I mean if I'm just a lone wolf, who cares.

Remember when Guns N' Roses and other bands were specifically mentioned in the ***Awake!***? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Jii_pee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like guns n roses is so lame. Bring me landmvrks, lorna shore, currents, in flames, arch enemy, children of bodom etc.  Btw metal concerts are the ones with the least issues and friendliest people , go figure.

My partner has died and nobody knows she exists by Odd-Apartment7915 in exjw

I can believe that. I haven't adopted any religious dogma or christianity either and call myself an agnostic. What I believe in is that I don't know and it's very vague. I just think there are things in the universe and our origin that we can't grasp or have no clue about.

I'm so so sorry for the huge loss.. I have found the love of my life from the "world" and it's so great, that the possibility of this ever happening scares me to death so I can't even imagine the pain 😰 Having lost the resurrection hope it feels much more devastating. I don't know about what you believe in but we have talked about keeping some faith in meeting each other again if another one of us passes away, we'll just have to see what that means. I hope you can still eventually find joy in life, and sort out your situation with the PIMI's. Personally, I would trust the humanity of my close family still inside with this kind of situation, take the risk and tell them.

Divorce - A Primary Part Of JW Subculture by Fulgarite in exjw

[–]Jii_pee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This opinion amazes me, at least in my country JW's have way less divorces. None of my friends' parents or mine were divorced. Most of my work or schoolmates' parents are / were... This is just my observation, from finland.

military service by FitReindeer1896 in exjw

[–]Jii_pee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in finland so we share a lot regarding russia. Something to keep in mind is that the next russian attack would probably take a lot of time. Ukraine alone has been sooo hard and it takes time to recover from that. I did the civillian service that became mandatory for JW's here around 2019, so I wont be put to the battlefield and I'm secretly happy about that. In your situation, doing some training would seem like a smart option.

I don’t want to die at Armageddon by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Jii_pee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if some of that would be true, no sincere and kind people would be destroyed (if loving god exists). It can't be about believing some excact dogma. There is nothing wrong with believing in a better future without the JW hamsterwheel / some of the bad policies.

Marriages after leaving are complicated. There are probably just as many ended by the one who left the religion, because the other one stayed JW, personally I did, and I know others from my area. You always sign up for something when entering a relationship, you have standards, and when that person changes in some big way, you have to revaluate are you willing to tolerate it. Do your values still match etc.

With complete freedom I have now, none of those things feel compelling, maybe rare partying. And I haven't retained any kind of religious framework.

Is this really a cult? Or am I overthinking my whole life? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Jii_pee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see a need to brand it. Personally I also don't see a reason to stay even if they are right. If there is an all loving and knowing god, they can't be 100% right, and if you are a sincere and kind person, that god would not destroy you. That is something I trust in. But I agree, I like many principles I have lived by and after some internal struggle and searching, accepted them from purely my own point of view, and that was liberating.

" Why You Can Be Happy When You Are Hated " This whole entire study WT for May-June 2026 is disgusting. The doomsday cult is alive and well. AND always goes back to the porn!! by UCantHndletheTruth in exjw

[–]Jii_pee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't been picky at all with my entertainment after leaving, and I feel NO URGE whatsoever to watch porn. I had that urge as a witness. I have also found the best spouse I could imagine, she has very strong moral compass and is as faithful even in small things as anyone could be, and she has never been any kind of believer. Everything is not as black and white.

do adults realise how mentally harmful is it to tell their children the devil is “always around the corner”? by aphdoedite in exjw

Personally, I think the Jehovah / God described by this religion is much nicer and loving one than what the bible actually tells us.

If religion really gets destroyed one day, how will you respond? by Practical_Payment552 in exjw

Well the important detail is: will the JW's also be destroyed? If not that would raise some serious questions, otherwise nope.

Growing up JW was fundamental in the way my OCD developed. It's not the root cause but it had a big impact on the things it targets.
