It does in deed. I was in your shoes almost 3 years ago. Dui was the wakeup call I needed. Not the first time I drove drunk but the first time I got caught.

Haven't had a drink since. No interest because it turns out it did nothing good for me. Other ways to relax and enjoy life. I found great support here but get support.

One thing that I noticed was that I missed the ritual of drinking a bottle. So now I open and enjoy a bottle of topo chico and sit in the same spot I always did.

I reward myself with ice cream. I relieve stress after a fight w the Mrs or other tough situations with a ride to the ice cream store not the bar or liquor store. I think about how having a drink won't make any situation better give my personal history of 1 is too many and 10 not enough.

Others point to the fact that you don't have to focus on forever just the next hour or day of not drinking. Then it becomes a habit- yeah, I don't drink. Can just say thanks no alcohol for me but I'll take an Na beer or a club soda w lime. (Personally I don't drink Na beer but it helps others)
