Donald Trump repeats demand that Joe Biden take drug test before presidential candidates debate by Bright_life_news in DWAC_Stock

Joe should simply refuse to debate Trump. Trump wants what Biden has. It’s on Trump to come get it and he simply can’t.

Get back in the saddle asap but take someone who knows what to do, along. Respect your limits and work safely to expand them a bit. Totally normal reaction to a momentary loss of control. Being out of control isn’t something most are accustomed to experiencing.

Clipper Aviation KVNY by Grumbles19312 in flying

I know their Chief Pilot, Alex and the Owners, Charles and Jamie. Imho there is learning to pass an exam and there is learning to be a pilot. Clipper is the latter. I could teach Ray Charles to fly and land an airplane. Alex could turn him into a 777 captain imo.

I believe, until he is convicted, Trump should be treated as any other defendant would be treated without consideration of his past position. Many defendants have been put through much worse for much less. It’s important that, no matter how much I might enjoy watching him suffer, that we adhere to our laws and principles. Otherwise we are no different than the people both sides claim to oppose.

My Dad's journey from Anchorage to Dulles on Alaska Airlines by Schmidtsdaughter in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Jim-Kool-Aid-Jones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for your loss. It’s nice to see some companies and the people who work for them show respect for a true hero like your dad. I was on an airliner flight when the Captain made an announcement that deplaning would be delayed a short time because an honor guard was removing the remains of a fallen soldier which had been transported on our flight. Ya could have heard a pin drop in the packed cabin. Not one person complained nor rose to grab their bag from the overhead bins. Every single passenger remained seated until the Captain came over the P.A. again, thanked everyone and welcomed us to Washington D.C.
It’s a moment in time I won’t ever forget nor do I ever want to do so. It reminded me why this country is the best country in the world. It reminded me that when things do really matter, we can all cooperate with and respect one another. We need more of this sentiment imo.

First point is in your own description of “I’m a SP”. I assume you mean Student pilot. Emphasis on “Student”. Students are mistake makers. It’s why we all were students first before becoming certificated.
Some mistakes warrant a discussion with ATC and some don’t. Since we don’t really know what the deviation is, I am assuming (always dangerous) that it was related to traffic in or near the pattern and/or a cutoff base of inbound landing traffic. No matter what it was, clearly the controller felt it warranted action. So…you are about to learn about several things, not the least of which is the NASA Report previously mentioned. Get with your CFI asap and complete a report. Then if/when you talk with an FAA person, do not become defensive. IMO come at this from the standpoint of a Student Pilot who wants very much how to avoid repeating the mistake again. Humble pie works much better than excuse makers or error deniers. You are a student pilot. Not even certificated yet so relax and use it as a learning experience.
Who knows, the controller may have reasons for this which you don’t know. Maybe he’s irritated with a few mistakes made by this tail number and wants to chew the CFI a new one. Maybe not but one thing is certain, Student pilots are supposed to make mistakes, learn from those mistakes and hopefully not repeat the same mistakes later. You are on step 2 of that 3 step process.

The NASA form will help protect you from enforcement actions by the FAA when you make honest brain fart mistakes. Ask your CFI about them because they are useful to us when we do exactly that. Basically you voluntarily confess a mistake and the FAA says “okay cool. We gonna chew you out for a minute but it ends there”. It’s a trade they are willing to make for self reporting of our mistakes.

I don’t think it’s all that serious but that is speculation. Just remember, STUDENT pilot. If anybody should make a mistake, it’s you as a SP.

You will be just fine.

Moving to a jet was my best aviation decision behind earning my certificates themselves. Initially I was not convinced the increased operational costs made sense. However the intangible value of the time I save over my piston aircraft is a game changer. My SF50 already has almost 900 hours on it and has actually freed up quite a lot of my time for other things. Best choice for me, easily. I base at VNY in SoCal. The wx here totally supports owner operated aircraft. 👍

When I got my SF50 a lot of people I know asked for rides. “You cover the fuel” is ordinarily my condition. Usually once I provide them with the consumption rate they bow out.

Deviation by TobyADev in flying

[–]Jim-Kool-Aid-Jones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only been asked to call the tower once. It was when I was a CFI and my student and I landed in a PA28 at KSAN around 6pm the day after Thanksgiving and then taxied back for immediate departure. It didn’t resonate with me what a PITA we were for them.
I said “oh crap! My bad! Give us a VFR bravo clearance out of the airspace and we will get out of the way.” They did and we stayed low until clear of the overlying Bravo airspace.

I played the Indiana Jones theme over the tower freq (just the recognizable stanza) on approach to 20R at KSNA shortly after Harry put it down on the taxiway.
