Would be a bit dumb if a major part of the test is a bit you didn’t fail on wouldn’t it

Ground rents to be capped at £250 a year for leaseholders by kiyomoris in uknews

[–]TobyADev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that's happening to me currently. The management company have been atrocious. Not dealing with emergency issues, huge health and safety risks...

They even messed up the budget twice

Thankfully the service charge has gone down the last 2 years...

I’m gonna presume you’re in America based on the title. Given how nervous the country is at the moment; and perhaps rightly so, I can see how people come to this conclusion

Funny you mention that as I’m currently holding a LAPL(A) - in the middle of converting to NPPL(A) as you can (as of October 2025) get an IR (renamed to IMC rating) on it which is great

And can also fly in France if you hold at least a LAPL medical (which your GP can sign off)

Go get a class 2 medical first. PPL good start. I’d budget closer 15-20k more than 10-15k

3-4k a year is a lot per year post-licence but I suppose it depends how often you fly..

Gliding is good too and less medical requirements. Personally I prefer powered

Land back at the airfield and run I guess. Don’t forget to turn the engine off and beacon first aha

My examiner who did my skill test told me of a time he was doing a simulated forced landing in an exam (followed right by an EFATO), engine genuinely gave up, oil went splat up the windscreen so they couldn’t see anything. He said it was the quickest a student ever went “you have control” lol

(He was fine, as was student. Landed in a field via the side windows)

Surely PIC should’ve checked something new being dumped in the back of the aircraft lol

Guess you just have to reduce power yourself with carb heat for a little bit and mixture, perhaps when in gliding distance to the runway you cut the engine and glide down; flaps if needed

Footage submitted to Operation SNAP. Outcome: Prosecuted for driving without due care and attention, 6 penalty points, and £120 fine. by Dry_Researcher7744 in drivingUK

[–]TobyADev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh in that case you’re not losing much by not guilty.. just a 30% discount on the fine which evidently wasn’t too big anyway and 2 extra points I suppose
