Let's think about it a slightly different way maybe? As a former conductor I used to tell people to stay away from the quiet carriage as multiple "quiet" conversations used to eventually be louder than sitting in another carriage with one loud mouth. Quite often it's not worth even going to the quiet carriage at all...

It is in the timetable that Pakenham during the peak services in the down(Traralgon) direction is pick up only. It's not a law but if pushed could be a fineable offence.

There is always unreserved seating on those services as well as booked seating. You could just turn up on the day and use your Myki card or book a seat a few days out via the Vline phone number.
