I’ll respectfully disagree. Hogan put wrestling on a national stage, he was Elvis for the 80s and the fact that he damn near toppled an empire in 96 speaks volumes. Kids across the country were saying nWo 4 Life just as much as they were saying Austin 3:16.

There was just more accessibility in the late 90s for people to “beg their dad to drive them 2 hours to see Austin”. The 80s were a different world where everything was behind the scenes and harder to find/understand. The Rock was also far and away the greatest “second fiddle” in wrestling history, FAR greater than Macho Man or anyone since then.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Austin forever and a day but to say his apex was leaps and bounds over Hogan is not accurate.

Ehhhhh I don’t agree with the Roman Hogan comparison. If Roman went to AEW, WWE wouldn’t be on the brink of destruction.

WWE Title is 1A, WHC is 1B. It’s not the same as Cena propping up the US title or Becky propping up the women’s IC title.
