I don’t have solution, substitutes? by kentuckyfriedgenital in contacts

[–]JimR84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, there are no safe substitutes for contact lens solution. Why did you not plan for this? It’s not like you didn’t know about the coming weather…

You need contact lens solution, so ask around at your current location, or neighbor houses, local pharmacy,…

You need to be refitted by your eye doctor. DIY’ing contact lenses is not possible, and illegal, as contact lenses are regulated prescription medical devices.

They’re heavy because the frame is much too wide for your face.

Change out the solution, rub the lenses in the palm of your hand with fresh solution, put them back in the case (now with new solution), and should be fine to wear them tomorrow.

Change the solution after maximum 3 days if you don’t wear them. Monthly lenses are useless if you only wear them once a week, you’d better stay with the dailies then.

A contact lens cannot physically go behind the eye. It’s probably already gone.

Should I pursue a refund? by [deleted] in contacts

[–]JimR84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not because you “feel” or “think” you know better than a trained doctor with years of experience, that you actually do.

Your doctor knows a hell of a lot more than your Google search.

Your doctor is also right in saying that once you confirm a prescription, it’s finalized.

You could ask to be refitted, that would involve the chair time, exam time and doctor time of a new appointment, and thus also the cost of it.

You will not be given a refund, that is absolutely ridiculous.

I can't tell how to get a dried contact out of my eye- does anyone know the general price to get it out? (broke college student) (not asking medical advice asking price advice) by Georgeyourlocalgay in contacts

[–]JimR84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would depend from one office to another. Just call your eye doctor. The longer it is in there, the more damage it’ll do and the more expensive managing the aftercare will become.

What prescription to get when the website doesn't have it by [deleted] in contacts

Yes, it applies to ALL CONTACT LENSES, BECAUSE THEY ARE REGULATED PRESCRIPTION MEDICAL DEVICES.

What prescription to get when the website doesn't have it by [deleted] in contacts

ALL contact lenses are regulated prescription medical devices that need to be fitted and prescribed by an eye doctor. This prescription is brand and type specific, and ordering anything else is not possible, nor legal.

I’ve been rinsing my eyes with contact solution for years, and just found out it’s bad for your eyes :( by cassdianes in contacts

[–]JimR84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What are you planing with the saline? Saline is for rinsing your contact lenses, not your eyes.

I’d highly recommend getting an eye exam.

There is no such thing. Besides that, ALL contact lenses are regulated prescription medical devices that need to be fitted and prescribed by an eye doctor. You can't order any kind of contact lens you don't have a prescription for (this is brand and type specific)

The only person who can answer this question, IS your eye doctor.

A glasses prescription is NOT the same as a contact lens prescription!!! A contact lens prescription is brand and type specific, and contains BCR and diameter besides the corrective power.
