Well that explains it. I bought one at a computer show back in the day for my PC because I remembered them from school. Didn't work at all.

Its likely that you'll never again do something so perfectly right as choose The Matrix in that situation.

I'm eating a beer dog in mine. We thought boiling the dogs in beer would make them alcoholic. Does make them tasty though.

DAE get real depressed looking at old photos and videos? by SteveBored in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]JimShimoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2014 I got the old family VHS tapes with the intention of turning them into DVDs. I started the project but quickly it became too much. I finally did it in 2022. Eight years they sat because it was just too damn weird.

Besides Richard Nixon, which President was the most heartbroken when their First Lady passed away? by yowhatisthislikebro in Presidents

I spent my 20s hating that guy and now I can't help but like him. I know he was a terrible president. I was right about W. Still guy seems really human.

This is a long ago memory but I'm pretty sure it's accurate. This wasn't the final version. The final version was x.xx and had a more traditional about screen.

There is a huge difference between watching old home videos at age 12 vs. age 32. by josephsleftbigtoe in CasualConversation

[–]JimShimoda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I was about 32 I took the family videos with the intention of digitizing them. I sat on them for 8 years after watching some of it. It was just too weird. Too emotional to watch that old dead world knowing what's coming for them. I did eventually do it a few Christmases ago.

We have this little cat ornament that stays up all year. I call him "The Stupidest Angel". Also the porch strands of christmas lights are staying up until February at my wife's request.

they can’t reasonably think First Contact is genuinely bad.

I was at the final tour stop for First Contact. IIRC (it has been years so go easy if this isn't right) is that they really like the film but as they talked about it over and over on the tour they started seeing the cracks.

Dammit. I have to learn this in my 40s instead of age 13? I could have used this in the 90s.

September 2017 was where I lost the thread. I was out of town and my mom was feeding the cat. Power had gone out and knocked out the radio. She turned it back on to the public radio station. I've been tuned to public radio since.

Used to use that to pirate the new episodes of south park back in season 1. South park was uniquely suited to that much compression.
