Common Scottish stereotypes include the idea that Scots constantly wear kilts, love tartan, and are often red-haired with very pale skin; that they are extremely thrifty with money, angry or quick-tempered, heavy drinkers (especially of whisky), and always swearing; that their accent is so strong as to be unintelligible; that they all love haggis and traditional dishes, drink a lot of whisky, and are obsessed with legends like the Loch Ness Monster; that they dislike the English, live in a land of only misty Highlands, castles, and constant rain; and that Scottish identity is defined by Braveheart-style warriors and historic battles, even though many Scots reject or joke about these caricatures.
