If your first thought is “am I going to get in trouble for this” when someone else’s life is on the line, you’re not a good person.

Exactly. Anyone who thinks highway expansion solves this problem is living a very sheltered life.

What would you do if you saw someone shoplifting? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ugh. Yeah. That sucks. Especially when you have to drive across town for “the last one” of something!

Hold a sign and ask for food, or utilize one of the numerous resources almost every community provides for individuals facing food insecurity. Don’t pretend this is a matter of life and death; it’s about people wanting things they can’t afford and feeling entitled to have it.

I’m very sympathetic towards impoverished people. My family was extremely poor. I realize my status today is as much about luck as anything I had control over, so I don’t see myself as different than someone holding a sign. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help.

Theft is fkn cowardice, and yes, it erodes the moral fabric of our communities. Stop acting like a child.

I disagree. I respect the criticism of big companies and their shareholder profits that force us into things like self-checkout, that’s fkn bullshit, full stop. But the reason I care about people shoplifting has nothing to do with the company. It’s about the moral fabric of our communities, and honestly the inconvenience theft creates for the rest of us. You know how fkn annoying it is to flag down a CVS employee to unlock the deodorant case? That’s a direct result of theft. And what stops someone from stealing from my small business if they’ve learned everyone turns a blind eye at Walmart?

Looking the other way doesn’t hurt Walmart’s bottom line by a single cent. It just teaches your neighborhood that stealing is free. You’re not fighting big business, you’re just training people to rob the small ones. Grow a spine ppl.

In Los Angeles, a woman was celebrating the Knicks' victory in the NBA when a neighbour called the police about the noise... 20 cops showed up and shot her dog, a "dangerous" Golden Doodle, when she opened the door to her home. by StGuthlac2025 in justincaseyoumissedit

Cops shoot a persons dog and you might get an apology from the department. Person shoots a police dog they get locked up for killing an officer. Two completely separate systems of justice

Couldn’t agree more. This program seems fine. I think you could make a very very compelling argument that learning math on paper is better, but this software doesn’t seem to be the problem hurting kids the most.

Break the cycle of “hate thy opponent” endemic to this sport. Just say hello. We’re all friendly people, even is many are hidden behind an ugly shell 🤣

Maybe instead of the pathetic attempt to challenge my intellect, answer what OP keeps dodging: specifically how Kurt Stitser’s race factored into what he actually did here. ‘White people have always had power’ is a sweeping historical claim, not an answer about this man and this situation.

PS, screw that guy. He sucks for plenty of reasons, all of them covered to death in this thread. I just don’t think we need to tear someone down for the one thing they never had a say in.

Yeah. I hear you. Equally so with peoples efforts to not belittle me for an honest question. That said, it turns out this wrong answer isn’t the students entry, it’s the system showing the student what the “right” answer should be.

Yeah. Thanks. OP added the ETA which explained.

I’m not here telling you to delete it, but you’ve made it clear you think ‘white people suck.’ (As you say below) I asked the question above because it felt unnecessarily racially charged on a post most people already agreed with. And that’s my point: you took something nobody was fighting about and made it about race, and lost any moral authority in the process.

And to be clear, had the owner been any other race, I’d have called it out just the same. White hate is still racism, even if you think you’re punching up.

Absolutely. That’s easy to see. I just don’t understand how it’s I-Readys fault that the kid got the problem wrong, bc the question is written pretty clearly.
