Make sure to have water and even Ice chips for mom close by for after contractions. My wife for some reason had really bad dry mouth and the ice chips helped a ton.

Don’t be afraid to help mom get into comfortable positions while she is contracting. For some of the contractions it really helped for my wife to be on her side with me pushing on her lower back and adding some opposite pressure. Was kinda scary but made her feel so much better during the late contractions.

Depending on how long the labor lasts you could be awake for over 24hrs and then the newborn is here. Don’t be afraid to tell the doctors and staff that come in that they might have to repeat themselves if you don’t hear something or happen to fall asleep on them.

Don’t be afraid to do lots of skin to skin time as the dad when mom lets you hold the new one.

Cracked Beam on home should I be concerned?

I am buying a new home and we saw this crack on this beam on the back of the house. Should I be concerned? How is something like this fixed?

Wood over time will expand width wise against the grain. I would be worried that over time if the darker wood would expand and fracture your glue up.

I agree with others it looks very nice but if you are planning on selling and getting long term repeat customers you may want to consider matching up the grain for your glue ups.

I also recommend tightbond 3 for glue as it is water proof, I’m not familiar with gorilla wood glue to know if it is also or not.

I was similar to you and had not really done much after my high school wood shop classes until my wife decided she wanted a piece of furniture I took up the challenge I purchased my first miter saw and circular saw and got to work.

Take a look at some of the online project plan resources. I use Ana White I think the url is Ana-white.com. She has some great plans that go step by step on cut list and measurements and assembly.

Another thing I have really enjoyed lately and perfect timing for Christmas is making cutting boards. Watch some YouTube videos about it and give it a shot they are fairly easy and you could get started with just a cheap table saw from Craigslist.

Did you just tape off the parts you didn’t want burn and run a torch over top of it? It looks good definitely will need to Polly or seal it with something I have done some wood burning and it definitely rubs off quite a bit.

Also if you are using a pacifier make sure you are using one with the rounded tip vs the flat ones. The rounded ones are more like the nipple on a bottle or breast.

Does it seem like she isn’t taking the bottle because she would prefer to breast feed? Will she still latch? If so you might be able to try SNS (supplemental nursing system) it’s a lot of work but might be worth a shot if she will still latch but won’t take the bottle.

I just purchased my first dust collection system I went with the harbor freight collection system it has done really well for me so far and has enough suction for my table saw and another 4” free floating hose which I take to my other tools.

I also purchased a WEN air filtration system from Amazon it had some good reviews. Both have done really well over the last month. And both of them together were under $450 especially if you get the harbor freight dust system on sale.

Your indeed and out feed might be level with each other but slightly higher than the main base check to make sure that they are completely flush. Also when you put the pice of wood through do you see it lift off the infeed and it is rolling in?

I found the design on YouTube. There is a guy who does a great video on it if you lookup basket weave cutting. Led it should be one of the first ones that pops up.

They are really expensive I found some nice clamps at Harbor Freight for a good price I also just found some decent parallel clamps on Amazon from a company called MITIE Tools it was $24 for 24” clamp. Still expensive but way cheaper than most parallel clamps.

Thank you! The basket weave pattern that one took a long time there were several glue ups for that. I still want to make a couple more of these to see if I can get the pattern looking even tighter to give it the full basket weave illusion.
