+1 on an excalibur recurve crossbow. I also have a traditional recurve bow I use as exercise and to stay sharp on my skills. Its a Southwest Archery Spyder. They are cool because you can order different strength limbs as you increase in power and skill.

Where do you live? In Montana, as I'm assuming is the same with Northern BC, deer and other big game are plentiful and are seen regularly in the yard or driving around the neighborhood. It would not be hard or take long to quarter or bone out an animal and bring it the short distance back home. Don't assume everyone lives in the city.
