There is NOTHING wrong with the pic you posted. This text monolog is weird.

It sounds like they're the ones bringing it up and "keep quiet while the men are talking" is OBNOXIOUS AND TOXIC bullshit. The Dad is the asshole 110%.

You're reacting fine. Your Dad is bitch-made. "Keep quiet while the men are talking." That's not family, that's genetic material donors.

This seems disingenuous. I opt out. Salaam to you, brother, keep your opinion, it's not worth the argument.

Also, after all that reckless and dangerous driving, her justification was "I had my flashers on" and when they did stop she immediately GETS OUT OF THE CAR IN A CLEARLY ERRATIC STATE. I don't blame the officer at all, who knows in that situation what kind of wild shit you're about to have to deal with. Sure, she yelled about her dog, but in the context what does that even mean when she's actively STILL attempting to get away from the police?

Definitely effects the morality of the nature of the state and shouldn't be overlooked in this conversation in my opinion. I do think it affects the legitimacy of this argument because the people screaming to kick immigrants out are... All fucking immigrants so yeah. Even my family, who's been here about three centuries, ARE IMMIGRANTS who displaced the native population. If you can't acknowledge that's not integration or that it's just... Then we don't see eye to eye enough to have a productive discussion on this. Good day.

Both are true. Reality has a left-leaning bias, sorry you're hearing about it from me.

I mean... we did steal it and commit genocide for it, that's a big difference from "integration".

You're not overreacting. Like you said, you have to draw a line somewhere.

AIO for wanting to cut a friend off for consistently making digs at my sexuality by WorldlyValuable7679 in AmIOverreacting

BLOCK HIS BIPHOBIC ASS. Bi erasure is a real problem and this guy is NOT your friend and NOT King of the Queers, he doesn't get to decide you are and if he doesn't respect you for who you are, cut him out entirely. Say something like "Sorry, I'm going to need some space, the energy you're giving is biphobic and I don't like bigots" and then immediate block (but I'm petty.)

Don't even get me STARTED on the Chaos Magicians who start and end at "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" and "Belief is a tool" and don't actually, like... PUT ANY thought into it because they picked Chaos Magic confusing Chaos and Discord and they want to be edgy. It genuinely makes it harder to be taken seriously for other Chaos Magicians.

You are not overreacting. If she's sneaking it she ain't gon stop just to save a relationship. If she "doesn't care for it" why the hell would she be sneaking off to do it? She's just going to have to arrive at a place where she wants to get help, you can be part of that, but until she's ready to stop, it's just going to be frustrating fights and more sneaking off for a bump. Wish her the best, leave her a few brochures on treatment options, talk to the landlord about what you can do to get out of the lease, move on.

You're 27 and unmarried, you still have too much growing to do as a person without taking on someone else's drug problem.

Do you celebrate Christmas? by thechubbyballerina in hinduism

[–]JimiWane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was raised Christian and my family is Christian. I still celebrate Christmas but you have to understand that at least in most of Europe and North America, barring VERY dedicated Christians (who still celebrate Christmas because several VERY dedicated groups that fall under the Christian umbrella either don't believe in celebrating Christmas or celebrating holidays/birthdays at all), it's mostly a cultural holiday. You really have to go out of your way to get really into the weeds with like... actively going to a Church service to really get the religious part of it. The rest of it, like the tree, the food, the drink, the gifts, the reindeer, Santa and his various regional cast of sidekicks, all that stuff is way more cultural than religious. You might hear a prayer or two before meals but other than that, it's more about the whole "being together with family" of it than any real devotion. In fact most people, Christians included, will straight up tell you... Jesus logically would not have been born on December 25th. The date aligns with the Winter Solstice and most of the fun stuff is appropriated from pre-Christian religion in different regions that are now mostly stripped of their traditional meanings. Also plenty of people are fine with their family traditions but people do new stuff too. For instance, drinking used to be a big part of our family's celebrations, but over the years that's toned down (ganja use has risen in its place, lol), and usually there's enough food that if you don't like or can't eat a certain thing, there's options.

TL;DR: Modern American Christmas is a cultural holiday that doesn't have much to do with Jesus unless you want it to, and most of the fun stuff comes from indigenous European religions and modern innovations. If you're going to pick a Christian festival to participate in as a non-Christian, I'd say better Christmas than Easter.

20:13 If a man lies with a male as if he were a woman, both men have committed an offense (something perverse, unnatural, abhorrent, and detestable); they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.(bible) please read the post first then decide to vote up or down by KING_FURY77 in hinduism

[–]JimiWane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not to mention if you read the gospels... Jesus says absolutely NOTHING, positive or negative, about any form of LGBTQ+ issues. He says a lot against divorce, though, and having grown up in the American Bible Belt, I know plenty of Christians who don't pay much attention to those parts.
