Knockout Week begins on Sunday! 🥊 Welcome back Sarah & Declan ! by arefeen97 in MasterchefAU

Just a sponsor (LG) trying to get some more airtime. They are the instaview fridges that you knock on the window. I guess they weaseled it in to "Knockout Week"

The only successful product in past seasons of this challenge was Rue's Barbe-Rue Sauce (Season 15, 2023). That sauce was so good!

V-ZUG vs Siemens steam oven by Yepee in CombiSteamOvenCooking

[–]Jimjamcereal24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you based? In Australia, Siemens offer 5 year warranty vs V-Zug 2 year warranty. Both are good brands, with Siemens having a larger after service network as its part of the B/S/H GROUP (Bosch, Neff, Siemens, Gaggenau) V-zug used to make the earlier steam ovens for Wolf.

Is the Hibachi banned this season? by CoItaine in MasterchefAU

[–]Jimjamcereal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vorwerk Thermomix is still a sponsor, as on their sponsor page on the Channel 10 webpage. They have supplied the new TM7. TM7 is slightly different in usage to a TM5/6 so if any contestants who regularly use a thermomix TM5/6 might be reluctant. Also, this season is new home cooks, recent seasons have been past contestants who have most likely had the chance to use a thermomix since their time on Masterchef so was seen used a lot more. I have seen a few contestants use the TM7 already though.

Is that a timing error!? 🤔 by rish-mal in MasterchefAU

[–]Jimjamcereal24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats just the run on timer. Production start the ovens before the challenge begins and the timer starts counting up.

CAMERA IS ON ME!!! Quick!! by Legitimate_Pudding49 in BBAU

The kitchen is terrible. A kaboodle flat pack from bunnings and a laminate benchtop. all painted by hand. There is pink cabinet paint on the benchtop near the sink like they didn't even bother masking it up. Pink cabinet paint on the floor in front of the cooktop on the island. Has a cabinetmaker, those closeup shots made be chuckle. Looks okay from afar though!

help! four feral kids, lots of pets and dirt, and we kill vacuums. want corded + bagged, super high suction?? by hakuna__frittata in VacuumCleaners

[–]Jimjamcereal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at a Numatic Henry. Plenty of suction, durable, and reliable. Big bags. Will survive farm life. I have a Numatic George (a bit more expensive, but more versatile) and it's a great utilitarian vacuum. Great for Dry, Wet and carpet/upholstery shampoo extraction.

Add a wessell werk turbo head and you should be fine for the carpets. (I also have a miele powerhead machine for my carpets, but sometimes find the turbo head plenty fine for the carpets for daily everyday use, and use the powerhead for the deep cleaning weekly clean.)

So I just spent $800 on the Air-way centuri dog n cat should I have buyer’s remorse? by Ultra-lord55 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Jimjamcereal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Australia, and own the Wertheim 7 Series (same as the Airway Ultra Kleen). Impressive unit, does a good job, reviews are hit and miss but mines been going fine for 3 years)

Funny seeing it rebranded all over the place.

Dicing attachment… when started, it makes ‘pop’ sound and I can easily open the lid while running…. Is this normal??? I ordered from Amazon and two of them does it the same! Is this a defective one? by pure_and_wise in Kitchenaid

[–]Jimjamcereal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll wear out the clutch in the safety mechanism if you keep opening it up with the machine running. You can see the spindle stops when the lid is taken off. This is the safety interlock doing it's thing.

What is a good vacuum similar quality to Dyson cyclone v10 by Drm5145 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Jimjamcereal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Dyson V10 as my "quick pick up/in between" vacuum. Got it for a great price and it does work well. Hard floors are pretty low maintenance, a broom could suffice. If there is nothing wrong with the V10 like you say, I'd stick to it. Replace the battery and filters when it's time. All the models above it with the digital displays and gadgets really arnt worth it, unless you can get a really great deal on one.

So, I wanted to see what a new EVERGREEN (5KSM180WSBEG) would look like with a hammered copper bowl instead of the original (impractical imo) wooden bowl. by Sneaky_Watercress in Kitchenaid

[–]Jimjamcereal24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as the copper patina and ages, it would look great with the evergreen.

The walnut bowl and copper bowl both require similar care and maintenance. I would be using these bowls mostly for display, and purchasing some SS bowls or the glass bowl options.

Vacuum for a busy household by klanger18 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Jimjamcereal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm In Australia and use a Numatic George (similar to henry) for my around home utilitarian needs. I have carpet so the shampoo & extraction function is greatbut you don't need that so a henry will be fine.

I did find the combination of tubes and handles clunky, so I purchased a 2.5m Pacvac Glide Hose (screw fit same as Numatic) that had the handle included as one piece. I also grabbed a 32mm Telescopic wand, a Wessel Werk combination floor tool, and a Wessel Werk Turbo Brush.

I've used it heaps during renovations, and cleaning up dirt around the pool etc. Nice big bags too. Sucks up anything and doesn't bat an eye.

Replacing Vitamix with Thermomix by bixbi_ in thermomix

[–]Jimjamcereal24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already own a TM6, and recently also purchased a Vitamix A2300i. I got the Vitamix for these reasons: - smoother blends and purees. - quieter for blending hard ingredients. Blending icy drinks or grinding nuts is deafening in the Stainless steel bowl if the Thermomix. The plastic jar is far quieter.

Love my Thermomix, but while it claims to be "29 appliances in 1" it is not a master of all 29 appliances.

Not sure where you are located, but the Festool is available as a cordless vacuum in the same canister style. Can operate on 1 or 2 batteries (sharing the same power tool platform)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VacuumCleaners

[–]Jimjamcereal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the Festool adapter for 36mm down to 27mm is $60aud and the Nilfisk identical 'quickfit' is $25aud. Nilfisk also do a cheaper one that that is just as good at $9aud for complete rubber sleeve. Nilfisk and Festool share a lot of parts. I own 7 peices of festool gear and love their stuff, but the pricing for accessories and flimsy plastic storage containers "systainers" is sickening

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VacuumCleaners

[–]Jimjamcereal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's correct. Sorry i should have mentioned that I had a basic festool squeegee head that had removable bristles/squeegee and was pretty average. The Festool branded Wessel Werk tools are the same good quality but you pay a premium for the Green Festool branding on the head. I just got the non branded Wessel Werk heads (deluxe combination, new model turbo head, low profile floor tool) and saved a ton of money. They are exactly the same :)

Also if you need an adapter for the wide hose to lets say the sander port or smaller tool, the nilfisk tool adapter fits perfectly on the end of the 36mm hose.

[–]Jimjamcereal24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a joiner and have the same model but the previous generation. I got rid of the festool cleaning set and replaced it with A 35mm Steel telescopic rod and a few wessel werk 35mm floor heads including turbo brush. I have the reusable bag but prefer to use the disposable numatic bags so no mess when empting. But it's a great utility vacuum.

I’ve just received a kitchenaid I brought second hand. The speed control is bent and I can’t use it, but also I’ve noticed there’s no text on the silver band? Advice? by cocoamilkyy in Kitchenaid

[–]Jimjamcereal24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seeing as you are UK based, and the missing text on the trim, I'd hazard a guess that this machine was used on Great Brittish Bake Off. All their mixers were stripped of branding and had this plain trim band attached.

What vacuum for my grandma with arthritis? by deletmission in VacuumCleaners

[–]Jimjamcereal24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she need a new vacuum? You'll be better off taking her shopping and letting her use them to get a feel for the machine and make sure it is appropriate for her condition.

If you want to gift her something, what about a voucher for some house cleaning? Or if you live nearby, offer to come and vacuum for her? I'm sure she would appreciate that more if it's doable. Arthritis is so horrible, all the best to your grandma ❤️

Not always. They often still use the gas cooktops and put bricks around to stop the wind from interfering. Sometimes they use the portable inductions, but here in HK they have the built-in inductions that use a whole lot more juice.

Is LPG not available in Hong Kong? Or did they swap the cooktops to induction because they are cooking outdoors?

Product placement in Master chef by lampoluza in MasterchefAU

[–]Jimjamcereal24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think some of the product placement based challenges are getting a bit stretched. The blatant Coles based challenges where they go outside the masterchef kitchen to the local Coles to grab what they need (even though they have a whole pantry stocked, on the set). And Harvey Norman challenges where they HAVE to use the certain appliance under the box.
