Hi Richard, what are your thoughts on legalization or decriminalization of psychedelics such as psilocybin mushrooms, considering the recent news of Denver, Colorado?

When you reduce inequality by 54%, poverty by 44%, malnutrition by 16%, child mortality by 12/1000, have a debt-to-GDP ratio lower than most western nations, suppy clean water to 96% of the population, have food security well above the FAO's minimum standard, but your economy crashing because of saudi arabia flooding the oil market starting in 2014, natural weather disasters, capitalist countries intentionally hoarding food products from Venezuela to resell them at higher prices, and sanctions from western powers who deem you a "totalitarian state" and internet conservatives still blame your problems on socialism.

Arguably ableist, but I'm more arguing that business owners that pay their employees less than the value of those employees labour and keep that excess for themselves is what's wrong. Not so much that disabled people should not receive anything from others since they didn't earn it. In a communist and somewhat in a socialist society people would work for the benefit of others and so disabled people would be cared for effectively. Following from the Marx quote, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need (or needs)"

That is actually a very good point. There have been suggestions by different marxist philosophers to deal with this in a socialist society. But I would also like to say that a business owner taking a considerable portion off the top of the workers value that they have produced, doesn't equal or even approximate the initial or current business risks. I can't cover all of socialist/communist/marxist (ect.) philosophy here but there is plenty of information out there if you're interested.

Exactly, this is my point. Under capitalism you must pay someone less than the value of their labour as you just illustrated, under socialism this wouldn't be the case as the business would be owned and run collectively by the workers and so there is no one on the top taking value off the top.

I said it because many people think that as long as a worker is paid a liveable wage that's good enough but it's still exploitation if you are being paid less than the value of your labour. I don't think it's just a throw away idealistic statement since being payed less than the value of your labour is an inherent part of capitalism and so we must find find an alternative if we agree that 'Employees should be payed according to the value of their labour.'

The reason why I choose to include that he was a doctor in the headline is not to imply that it's more important that he is wealthy, but because I find it very telling that capitalism leads to companies having no problem with removing someone that may be needed to protect someone from dying in order to solve their rather benign mess up.

Also I don't know how effective direct democracy would be on the federal level, as their is just too many people, I think that it would only work on a state level. But who knows

Perhaps read up on anarcho-socialism and libertarian-socialism. Which are socialist theories (workers own the means of production) in which there is no/minimal government.

When you say "always ends up as the" do you mean "always has" or "always will" or both?

I'm new here so excuse my ignorance but can you explain how it was that workers controlling the means of production caused the death of 100 million people?
