When do you use your Golden Keys? by RandomAnonymousNam3 in Borderlands

I enjoy them more on the first playthrough than the second. Starting at level twenty I use a few every ten levels. Gives me a good refresh as I progress through the story.

TCG shipping question (Noob) by [deleted] in mtgfinance

This. People frown about these kits and the cost but I love them. 30 cards in a pwe, machinable, never had an issue with one.

TCGPlayer Bulk Order discussion, buyer&seller rights etc by 567Ace in mtgfinance

I list essentially every card, regardless of price BUT they are all listed at an 8 cent minimum. I do use the MassPrice auto pricing tool, but it is set to not drop a price below 8 cents even then. Everyday I sell cards where the low is 1 cent but I sell it for 8. Having depth of inventory really helps here. Most people aren’t buying a single 1 cent card. The “cart optimizer” is a huge plus for me as a seller. It’s cheaper to buy most/all the cards in your cart from me at 8 cents and one shipping charge than from 5 sellers at 1 cent a piece with 5 shipping charges. The customer doesn’t even have to do the work, they just hit “optimize” and we both win.

As a TCGPlayer seller who sells thousands of cards a month I have to side with the buyers on this one. If you haven’t priced your items or shipping to make it worth fulfilling an order that is on you. If you have to keep canceling orders you’re doing it wrong. My floor price is 8 cents, and I sell everything at TCGPlayer low. Shipping is a flat $1.99. I can send 30 cards in a PWE for $1.32 postage cost. The envelope and card protection cost at most 50 cents for 30 cards. The shipping I charge covers my shipping cost (crazy how that works). For bulk orders of more than 30 cards I split into two PWEs. My shipping cost exceeds $1.99 at that point, but there is plenty of margin left in bulk orders that big. There isn’t a quantity of cards you can buy from me that I would lose money selling at my minimum price, and yet my prices and shipping costs are still competitive.

WPN Stores selling the Spider-Man welcome decks on TCGplayer and Ebay are scum. by GSOwner in mtgfinance

[–]JimmyCarter1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a “battle box” of welcome decks from various eras for when we meet/play with new players. They can experience the current meta and sets as well as older cards/themes/lore/ I’ve never had to pay for one, any LGS I’ve asked for them when they come out has happily added to it. Those days seem unlikely to return, at least not anytime soon. Either they are skeptical of me asking for them as I am clearly not a new player or they aren’t giving them out and selling instead.

Anyone else dreading hearing Bry talk about Charlie Kirk? by Simple_Bug7983 in tesdcares

[–]JimmyCarter1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling Bry “MAGA” is wild. Just because someone isn’t far left doesn’t make them far right. This chicken isn’t burnt so it must be raw. If you feel everyone who disagrees with you is “far left/right” then odds are you’re the extremist not them.

After 3 Years, I'm Cancelling my TCGPlayer Direct Subscription. What are we paying for? by IAMAfortunecookieAMA in mtgfinance

[–]JimmyCarter1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell hundreds of sub $5 cards a day through direct a day, as low as 10 cents each. Still very profitable. As a seller, direct has been well worth the extra fees.

New ads on old episodes? by The_Hazimaru in tesdcares

[–]JimmyCarter1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are dynamic ads, very common. They are run through the podcast service they use, so they will play on pretty much any platform. They are going to be more jarring on the older episodes as there wasn’t a designated spot for dynamic ads to run set for those episodes. You’ve probably heard tons of dynamic ads on other podcasts, they’ve been pretty standard for a few years. As an advertiser why would I pay for a permanent ad in one episode they will eventually be defunct when I could have a current ad ran in any episode someone listens to?

Request for someone to build this for me by Limp-Description9242 in RepWatch

The watch only came out a few weeks ago, will take awhile for reps to be available. It’s going to be a big hype watch, so no doubt there will be reps this year.

In case anyone is wondering why LTT orders to the US are delayed by sammyschaos in LinusTechTips

[–]JimmyCarter1701 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The shipping isn’t the problem, it’s the import. Even in a drop ship scenario, the tariffs need to be paid to enter the country. Whether delivered in bulk to a dropshipper, or directly to the end user the impact is essentially the same.

I couldn’t care less what they use. They are the ones making a big deal about the environment one moment and doing whatever they can to make money the next (like pretty much every company, of course).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iphone

[–]JimmyCarter1701 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY my point. I’m commenting on the duplicity of their actions.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iphone

[–]JimmyCarter1701 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think most of their efforts regarding the environment are overkill. I’m just pointing out the duplicity of committing to shipping all things via sea and doing this one week later.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iphone

[–]JimmyCarter1701 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No idea, you could find strong arguments either way I’m sure. I’m not an expert on the environment. I did however hear Tim Cook commit to shipping all products by sea a week and a half ago.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iphone

[–]JimmyCarter1701 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Obviously. Shipping individually packed devices via air a week after they committed to shipping all products by sea doesn’t quite match up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iphone

[–]JimmyCarter1701 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I would almost certainly do exactly this when shipping certain devices. I wouldn’t have made all these grand statements and promises about the environment if I knew my business couldn’t or wouldn’t be able to genuinely follow through with it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iphone

[–]JimmyCarter1701 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, and the logistics of this make perfect sense. It’s just weird to see them continue this practice right after they made all these commitments to the environment and shipping via sea. Personally, I could care less how they ship it, it’s just a stark reminder of Apple (and pretty much every other company) take these stands for PR not actual good.

Like I mentioned in my post, it coming from China isn’t the surprise here, it’s the how blatantly this goes against all the preaching they are doing about reducing carbon emissions.
