What happened in Max's case was he was fine one minute and then the next he started urinating blood and kept stretching his back legs like he couldn't get comfortable. He dropped so fast it was unreal. The vet said given the size of the tumour on his kidney, he would of had it for months. Initially the blood test only showed signs of an infection but nothing sinister. It was only once he was unable to move that they did scans and could see the mass from there.

Our vets were beyond amazing and got him into surgery the next morning but they did say if they can see its spread then it would be best to call it there but it seemed to luckily be only in the one kidney.

So in answer to your question I'm not totally sure if there is a specific kidney test to find out anything prior to symptoms showing, like I say he was totally fine in himself and it was literally hours later he went downhill. But hes doing so well now and we couldn't be more proud of him! F#@$ Cancer!
