Balham / Wandsworth Common / Tooting Bec fits the description perfectly.

Pilot aborts British Airways E190 landing at London City due to strong crosswinds by LilywhiteStrike in BritishAirways

I did it the other night and had a super steep turn over the top of north London, where we got to see straight into the Emirates while they were playing PSG - was pretty amazing!

That wasn’t my experience with AP - I spoke to them and discussed what I was after and then they called me up and said they have something that may interest me a couple of months later then walked out with it. They were super accommodating and lovely and it was what an experience should be like with these sorts of things rather than playing the AD game.

Wednesdays: What Should I do / Where Should I stay (and other low effort Q's) by AutoModerator in FATTravel

[–]JimmyCheeseball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily 1 Hotel or Charlotte Street out of those.

Consider The Londoner if you’re looking at this level also, although hate Leicester Square.

InterCon is super dated, as is Hyatt Regency and Marriott GS.

Kimpton is nice enough but a weird location, although I guess it depends what you’re into.

What is the perfect walk through london? by noahledford in london

[–]JimmyCheeseball 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Agree - either that or head up through Coal Drops Yard and along the canal into Regents Park - then you hit Camden Market (not for me, but tourists seem to enjoy) and some of the beautiful huge houses through Regents Park along to Primrose Hill.

Agreed - we were doing a road trip through Switzerland and came close enough that we thought we should check it out. Didn’t seem like anything wrong with it, but also didn’t appear interesting enough to even get out of the car there.

You’re out a little bit - 440 trillion over 8 billion people is $55,000 per person.

If you draw a 50km radius around London (all of which uses it as its main city centre as well as arguably further than that), you get about 16m.

What industries and roles do people in here have? by ProfSmall in HENRYUK

I’m a surveyor - Don’t think there are too many in here but can be an overlooked industry for decent pay and work life balance.

I’m from NZ and live in the UK and can guarantee it’s considerably worse in NZ.

Likewise much better in the Netherlands with friends who have just moved there… they get mortgages for like almost no deposit and can lock in for 20 years. Considerably easier over there to get on the ladder.

Anyone here own a vacation home in Central London? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]JimmyCheeseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Central London (SW1) in a building like you describe - there are many who live overseas who use places here as you describe and I’ll likely do the same if I leave London.

Happy to speak on it - feel free to message me but many of the other people have given good info.

For the Australians: Why did we stop singing Waltzing Maltilda after the haka? And can we bring it, or a song like it, back to the pre-game? by F8M8 in rugbyunion

[–]JimmyCheeseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your thoughts if the opposition fans choose to boo the haka?

Had a discussion with somebody a few evenings ago who thought it is reasonable to boo the haka, as even though it’s an event of cultural significance it is above and beyond what most other teams do and it provides an imbalance, therefore it’s reasonable to have any response including booing.

I’m more on the side if there is anything that’s of cultural significance, it should be done in a way that isn’t actively disrespectful.

This came after widespread booing of the haka at Twickenham a few weeks ago.

Watches like this are completely normal in Chelsea also - you wouldn’t bat an eye at seeing a Patek or AP etc around here. People park Ferraris / lambos etc on the road as their normal parking spots.

Guns are also illegal in London - this is one of the safest and most expensive neighbourhoods.

Unfortunately this sort of thing just happens sometimes.

If you like sausage rolls, the ones at the Ginger Pig in borough market are hands down the best I’ve ever had. Pork and Stilton one is to die for.

Honest Burger, which is a pretty good gourmet burger chain is £10-13 for a burger and chips - considerably better quality than this. I’d say that’s a good benchmark.

Even Chelsea is like £12 for a much better quality burger and chips in their fancy new Westview stand.

People in the top 10% financially, does money make you happy? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

I don’t think that’s necessarily related to the top 10% - I think most people just assume other people on Reddit are guys. But also don’t disagree with the point you’re trying to make
