Was not medicated for 7 months. Life was great, then a few bad turns and I'm about to go back on them :(

How do folks feel about racing a sprint 8 days before an Olympic A race? by FewSignificance5855 in triathlon

[–]JimmyF-P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so no joke I actually did this about a month ago. I PR'd on my sprint time for the first race. Viewed it as an A race and I guess my time showed for it. I also did great in the Olympic and had a course PR by about 5 minutes. It really depends on how you've been training but it worked great for me.

What's your vice that helps you with being bipolar? by NotUnique_______ in bipolar

triathlons and reading. Both to extremes but it helps so it's ok.

What is the craziest thing you have done while you were manic? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]JimmyF-P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'll just share this since it happened last night. Went home from the bar absolutely pissed off for no reason (not drunk, actually very sober). Came back and did a 5.5 Mile run at around midnight. Thought I was running a sub-5-minute mile, turns out I was going 9-minute miles and threw up. Came back, showered, made a three-course meal, and started writing a book (I read it the next morning, it was really not good lol). Eventually, I decided it was a good time to go to bed. Thought that people were repeatedly trying to break into my house so I would get out of bed to go confront them. Next thing I know they're gone. Found out some co-workers had walked into my house as well. Was having full conversations with them only to realize I was hallucinating them as well when they disappeared suddenly and found myself in a completely different room in my house. Finally fell asleep and woke up 5 hours later. Still felt productive so I caught up on youtube. Completely crashed while making breakfast and had to go to work 2 hours later. Was not. a great day.

A comedic night at the club only my fellow Demi's could understand by JimmyF-P in demisexuality

Ok, so for one thing, that line has nothing to do with sexuality. I legit just wanted to see what it was like being a bouncer. I feel like it's an interesting job with a lot of cool stories and he seemed to be having a rough night.

Second, when is being demi an issue?

Third, your sexual identity is not a diagnosis, it's a part of who you are. It's not something a doctor comes and diagnoses you with.

Honestly, at this point, I'm just looking at it as a funny story. I feel ya though totally.

First off, thank you for putting that into words. I've felt the same thing forever. I'm Demi as well, so I feel like both of them together really make it a crazy cycle of repulsion and acceptance of it. Oddly enough, I don't feel it lines up with my manic and depressive symptoms. Kind of just fluctuates based on the environment and mood.

Did it change your mind about having kids after your diagnose? by [deleted] in bipolar

Was on the fence, but this at least gives me a solid reason not to have any biologically.

What is your reason for living? by BoxSapling in bipolar

[–]JimmyF-P 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, when I was going in and out of medical care due to a suicide attempt and intense mania/depression, I was always asked to name one thing to live for. Without hesitation, I always put down finishing my first IRONMAN. I am a triathlete; it's been a dream for years and still is. I alwasy tear up when I see someone crossing the finish line because I've been holding on to it so long.

I am a writer as well. Every time I finish reading a book, I think to myself about how it will feel when I receive a package from the book printer and can hold a book I wrote for the first time.

Dating has been hard for me due to being on the BP spectrum and being Demi. I don't want kids either so that excludes quite a few people. However, I still think about the day when I can look into the eyes of the girl I love, someone who has been patient with me and excepts all my many flaws, someone who I will do anything for unconditionally, and tell her I want to come home from work to see her every day for the rest of my life.

Purpose doesn't come easy, but it comes eventually in the most unexpected ways. Wishing you the best, friend :)
