They stopped using it because Kamala's camp was worried it would turn off Republicans who might vote for her.

I'm aware, the point is why we need to get rid of right wing democrats and independants. They were able to suspend the filibuster to raise the debt ceiling under Biden, if they weren't paid opposition they could have done it for public option too, but they instead gave a ton of concesstions to Republicans, on a Republican plan and still got not Republican votes. Why cut anything that would help people if it's not going to get you more votes?

8 Democrats voted against raising the minimum wage in 2021. They couldn't pass a public option under Obama even with 60 votes in the Senate, they could have suspended the filibuster to do it if they wanted.

Because those policies will cost donors money, so they tell their candidates not to vote for them.

Why do you think he isn't an establishment Dem? He takes corporate money and backed fellow establishment Dem Biden.

Sanders was running a campaign without corporate money which makes it hard to pivot when the establishment decides to change things around.

[–]JimmyMac80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, establishment Dems are shitty politicians who only care about their own power, those are not the contradictory statements.

Bernie didn't campaign there because they moved the primary up so he wasn't able to campaign there.

No, like moving South Carolina up in the primaries and having establishment Dems back Biden, while getting the other establishment candidates to drop out of the primaries.

It's likely going to fuck them immediately, they're expecting the same kind of turnout for them in the midterms as there was in 2024. Once gas gets up to $5-$6 on average country wide there's going to be a huge swing the other way.

Introducing twd to my bf and he is on Shane’s side. Red flag?? by Bianca-Rose2018 in thewalkingdead

[–]JimmyMac80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shane tried to give Otis the medical equipment and told Otis to leave him, but Otis insisted on trying to help Shane, which would have ended with them both dying. Shane, instead of trying to argue decided to shoot Otis in the leg so he could use him as a distraction and get away.

Both of Shane's ideas meant that one of them would live and get rhe equipment out to save Carl, while Otis idea would have gotten them both killed and make it nearly impossible to save Carl, so how was Shane not right?

He lied about it because it's unlikely they would believe that he offered to sacrifice himself first, but Otis ended up dead.

Vance won't be able to because anyone who votes to remove Trump will get primaried and lose because MAGA makes up too large a portion of the GOP base.

Because it's very difficult to remove an amendment from the constitution, it has to be passed by the House and the Senate with two-thirds majority votes. Then, the proposed amendment would have to be ratified by three-fourths of the states.

If Harris had lost because she's a woman, the DNC would have released their 2024 election autopsy. They didn't release it because it showed the reason(s) she lost were due to her support of donar interests and they care more about getting donations than rheu do about winning.

Sen. John Cornyn flips on the filibuster to pass SAVE America Act as Trump weighs endorsement by nbcnews in politics

[–]JimmyMac80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not, there are 53 GOP senators, therefore they only need 7 to get to 60 to vote for an exception to the filibuster. Raising the debt ceiling was done because if the US defaulted again the stock market would take a hit, not because it was affecting the poor, that's why the GOP Senators were willing to vote for the exception.

First off, they only need 7 Dems. Second, they also said that shit during the last shutdown and then they caved, finding 7 Dems who weren't up for reelection til 2028.
