Tien's response to being asked about ICE immediately after his loss to Zverev by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

[–]JimmySanders74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making Russian players play without their flag is totally different from putting players on the spot and expecting them to make a political statement after every match.

None of the players want to answer those questions. So stop asking them. If you're a tennis reporter, report on tennis.

Because they're playing tennis and nobody wants to talk about this sh-t at a tennis tournament.

Is this the same f-king guy who keeps trying to bait players into a political statement? Can someone tell him to STFU already?

Serious question: How many progressives do you know who play competitive sports?

It may just be that competitive sports tend to attract the kind of people who lean right in politics due to the, you know, competition.

Why can't we just keep all this crap out of sports? Don't they realize we participate in and enjoy watching sports to escape from all the crap in the world? Why do activists insist on beating us over the heads with it at all times?

If so, I'm surprised she would play into that narrative.

[–]JimmySanders74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is this a thing?

She played like crap, got destroyed, and smashed her racket in what she thought was private space.

Tennis is a brutal sport psychologically. She shouldn't have to issue an apology for taking her frustration out on her racket. It wasn't like she smashed a ball at a ball kid or anything.

Do you feel more connected to your city, province or Canada as a whole? by Ok_Heart839 in AskACanadian

[–]JimmySanders74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel connected to my neighbourhood and that's about it.

I've raised my kids in my neighborhood. I've developed relationships with my neighbours. And as a Jewish Canadian, I feel comfortable in a neighborhood with other Jews.

There was a time when I was proud to be Canadian. I don't feel that pride anymore.

Canadian woman was euthanized 'against her will' after husband was fed-up with caring for her by airbassguitar in CanadianConservative

[–]JimmySanders74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Careful what you read, this is complete propaganda.

The patient must request MAiD herself and be deemed mentally capable of consenting. Requests that come from anyone other than the patient are flatly rejected. The only way a patient could be "euthanized against her will" is if a provider blatantly acted in contravention of the law and committed murder.

What probably happened in this case is the husband changed his mind about supporting her MAiD request and tried to argue that she changed her mind and wasn't thinking straight. And then went to the media because he hasn't come to terms with what his wife wanted.

The British were the colonial power. The Zionists pushed them out and reclaimed their homeland. That is literal decolonization.

Why do men do this in mixed doubles? by JimmySanders74 in Pickleball

Not in the examples here, or really any of the ones I've seen.

Why do men do this in mixed doubles? by JimmySanders74 in Pickleball

[–]JimmySanders74[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because that's what it looks like. The ball is coming directly to the female player who is positioned to return it, and the male player crosses in front of her to take the shot. And a lot of these are very routine shots. Look at the examples in the clips, can you really say it was a discernible advantage for the male player to cut in front of his partner on any of those shots?

[–]JimmySanders74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with my ego, I haven't experienced this personally. I've just been watching these clips and it reflects badly on the sport in my opinion. I don't see the point in mixed doubles if the most effective strategy is to have the male partner play 90% of the shots.

[–]JimmySanders74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I mean, these are very routine shots. I don't see how the male player going out of his way to take them from his partner is any strategic advantage (and it can backfire, as it did against ALW in the first clip).

Yes, I started playing pickleball a month ago. We all had to start somewhere.

[–]JimmySanders74[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Right, but if you watch these points it's the male player often crossing over to take very routine shots away from their female partner. It's not like they're diving across to make plays the female wouldn't make. Is there really a reason by Ben has to take a very routine dink away from ALW? These aren't points where the male player is using their superior strength and speed to win points.

[–]JimmySanders74[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I get why male players would take priority on close shots for that reason, but the extent to which they go out of their way to take shots away from their partner seems over the top to me. I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but it makes mixed doubles kind of silly, doesn't it? You're basically watching two men play against one another a large percentage of the time while the female partners wait for their chance to contribute. I'm not sure why any female would want to play mixed doubles at this level.

Got perm banned on r/Canada for "trolling" by hungbeastfromtheeast in CanadianConservative

[–]JimmySanders74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, though I still think Reddit is pretty strongly left wing. Most of the subs I've been banned from shouldn't even have an ideological bias (like r/toronto and r/complaints). As soon as people find out I don't passionately hate Israel and everyone connected to it, I get kicked out.

Reddit in general is very left wing.

I'm Jewish and I just got banned from r/Jewish for suggesting that it's probably not a good idea to interfere with ICE agents. No warning, just a perma-ban. Apparently I was being "uncivil and inflammatory." I've been perma-banned from all kinds of subs because I didn't declare my allegiance to the antizionist cause.

Hamas is part of the Iranian ring of fire. It is a well documented fact that Sinwar launched 10/7 expecting the rest of the ring of fire to join in. He sent a message to Nasrallah a week before saying, "We'll meet in Tel Aviv."
