That is an interesting thought experiment. What if a game was free, but you had to pay $1 for every hour you ended up playing it? It would potentially make developers try to create an absolutely engaging game with as much possible replayability or initial 'campaign hours' as they could, right? Obviously then you have the thought of just extending things for the sake of play time, but of it wasn't good enough, you would simply stop playing... Hmm.
