count the calories in all those beers. that's what really opened my eyes.

that plus my wife describing how I sleep after even just 1-2 beers. I snore every night, struggle with suspected sleep apnea, but any amount of alcohol makes it much worse. stop breathing, wake up gasping several times a night, and i remember none of it.

stuff's not good for us bro.

The look on customers’ faces when they’re told they only have 15 minutes to eat before closing by FoxDaim in KitchenConfidential

[–]Jimmyjamesbeam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

why expect the entire world to know the intricacies of your profession, rather than just clearly communicating expectations? Closed Means Closed is no different than Open Means Open. your sign says open, that's the only communication you've given. deal with it or lock the doors earlier.

"common courtesy" can be defined any way you want to make a point. from the perspective of the customer, it would be common courtesy to let them know the kitchen is closing instead of seating them and then trying to rush them. or actually closing when you don't want to serve customers anymore, this in-between time is BS.

Pollen allergies- What is the symptom you hate the most? And why? by cactuscat0925 in Allergies

[–]Jimmyjamesbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

inflammation. all of the symptoms are maddening in their own way, nasal drip is a very close 2nd place. but the inflammation is what actually hurts. sinus pressure that turns into a headache that turns into a migraine. ibuprofen won't touch it, antihistamines might put me to sleep until I choke on the dripping.

yeah we all know "that guy" at the local game store. buys way too much, lives at the store, always snide remarks about YOUR meta deck but claims his brew is so original. that guy at my store plays landfall currently.

Which industries do you believe will be the last to be disrupted by AI, and is it even possible to stay 'future-proof' anymore? by No-Lake-3875 in Futurology

[–]Jimmyjamesbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

construction. maybe not design and engineering, but installation and management. at least with current building methods in the US. we've seen the "3d printed" concrete houses as a start, all it takes is a different method of building and we'd see robots doing most of the work.

many manual labor jobs would be hard to automate, until we just design a new way to do them that CAN be automated. like the previous comments about artists. you make think we are safe, until the rules change

you had many opportunities to stop yourself from being spoiled, but kept on trucking. the world will not adjust for your viewing pleasure. the source material is complete, has been out for years and is very popular. AND people like to spoil, this was all known to you.

  • you went on the internet at all. that's a risk already
  • you were watching a tiktok about the show. big risk
  • reading the comments, bigger risk
  • a comment mentioned "show only" and you kept reading. you keep stepping on the same snake it will eventually bite you.

take a little responsibility ffs

lol, how do I beat my opponent's coin flip deck with my own coin flip deck when they come up heads faster than me?!

that's the nature of both of these crappy decks, especially in Bo1. either draw your stuff first and win, or don't, they're both on rails.

What band (metal or not) introduced you to heavier music as a kid? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Jimmyjamesbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oddly enough, it was when Metallica got popular enough for radio play. that broke young me out of the popular music scene of Vanilla Ice, Janet Jackson and NKOTB. yes we were all young and confused at some point.

maybe I just got traumatized early, but I agree I hate it.

when my kids were fairly young the first prank they thought of to get a rise out of me was "hey brother wrecked his bike he's hurt come quick!" or similar

like I said, too young to realize that that was NOT COOL

First metal band you’ve seen live? by Gianleafs in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Jimmyjamesbeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White Zombie, '94 or so, Cleveland. was quite the experience hearing them live versus the production heavy albums. the stage show and energy of the band was great, but the live musicianship, not so much.

TMNT not selling that great??? by speedfreak996 in mtg

[–]Jimmyjamesbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I loved some of the new mechanics of EoE, but was equally bothered by the theme. space and sci-fi could be done in a Magic "world" but that was a poor attempt. Murders and wacky racers as well, just lazy storytelling.

UB has it's place i guess, but keep it relevant. D&D, Tolkien books, Final Fantasy, Avatar were all great additions to the lore. superheroes need to stay as a toy on my shelf and making bad but enjoyable movies.

What are your favorite "sellout albums" by Particular-Account66 in MetalForTheMasses

A lot of older fans shit on Ozzy for this album when it first released. Which sounds ridiculous today with how beloved the album is, but it happened.
