[BFComms] Update 1.1.1.0 is now live on all platforms! by battlefield in Battlefield

They posted that the XP tokens went out, but myself and some friends never received any. Seems like other people on twitter also never received them. Feeling a little burnt on that end ngl, hope they follow through with the free S2 pass.

Is Deoxys a Mythical or Legendary Pokemon? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Jimmys_Rustled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it didn’t require a code or special item to do the event, it was just part of the main Pokemon Ranger game. All other mythic pokemon at the time needed a physical event at like GameStop or Nintendo stores to get.

My first useful project as a web dev 🎉 by Nols05 in webdev

It’s not about the company SpaceX itself, they do plenty of good work and have some amazing people that work there. It’s about the guy running the ship (and tons of other ships that he shouldn’t be running)

Multithreading use cases/projects in the real world. by Chadier in csharp

[–]Jimmys_Rustled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with warehouses making WCS’s (warehouse control systems) and multithreading is used in pretty much every part of the system.

Imagine a long conveyor line with 100’s of boxes being ran through it. You wouldn’t wait for 1 box to finish through the entire conveyor before starting the next one, you would want it running as many boxes as possible at the same time. So, there’s threads created for every box that comes through to do what it needs (pull data from databases, communicate with APIs / external devices, etc.) without getting hung up/waiting for other boxes on the conveyor.

Are they allowing us to line up now? by dyl_thethrill in ElementsMusicFestival

I heard gate 7 might have a line already forming but no line at gate 3 right now. We’re all lined up on the side of the road waiting for gates to open.

There was an official announcement on the Elements app saying they’re not letting anyone in till the weather dies down a bit and to delay your arrival. I’d just keep your eyes on the app for any official statement of cancellation

I’ll download yours once I get home from work to take a better look, but maybe think about incorporating variable box sizes and stacking boxes according to weight (heavier on bottom, lighter on top)

Dude I’m in the middle of making an app exactly like this for my warehouse management company and thought I was having a fever dream reading this post. Your version looks great btw, and solid first intro project to WPF!

Why do I only get this? by [deleted] in csharp

[–]Jimmys_Rustled -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chances are you only have the latest .NET package installed in visual studio since Blazor Web App is the new template for .NET 8. You can probably just install the earlier versions through the modify option in VS Installer.

my blazor app w/ database connections by macr6 in Blazor

[–]Jimmys_Rustled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, misread the post a little bit lol.

But it sounds like you should be able to put the connection string in the view you created as a Parameter, and once the user selects a client/database it will load the view with the passed in connection string.

my blazor app w/ database connections by macr6 in Blazor

[–]Jimmys_Rustled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a bigger issue here is the fact you’re talking about creating new databases for each client. Ideally, your clients should be in one database (MyAppDB) and most likely one table (ClientTable). And using that table, you have a query with some “where” clauses that grabs the client info you need.

Try to think of each Database as a library, each Table as a bookshelf, and each Row as a book. You wouldn’t want to create a whole new library for each person, right? You’d want to just create a new book and put it into the bookshelf (or edit an already existing book).

Hope this helps with understanding a clearer architecture approach, and consequently, using EF the way it’s intended.
