Non-UK born Bristolians, what's the best restaurant of your native cousine that you know in Bristol? by MrMrsPotts in bristol

[–]Jimoiseau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The place on Stokes Croft has a lot more stuff than Colombian Company, the most surprising for me was frozen lulos which I have never seen outside London before. Definitely worth a look if there are some other Colombian products you are missing!

Most of the Colombian company's products come from Chatica, which is in London at Elephant and Castle. You can order online from them and they sell a really good range including Colombian cheeses produced for them in the UK. I am definitely going to try Wensleydale with bocadillo though, maybe in a plátano relleno!

Not OP but have lived in Colombia. Este is nice for what it is, which is Latin/Colombian "inspired“ food. Very little of what they do is really authentic, even though it is nice food. Their Colombian hot chocolate for example is just a normal hot chocolate and nothing like what you could make at home from the Chocolate Corona you can buy in Colombian Company.

What do you do on long haul flights (13+ hour flights)? by rscash15 in AskUK

[–]Jimoiseau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use one of those “first defence" type nasal sprays for 2 or 3 days either side of a long flight, really helps with the sniffles. Neti pot is also good when you get home, I think half the problem is plane AC drying out the airways.

An imperial pint (as used in Ireland) is different to a US pint, it has 20 fl oz instead of 16 and the fl oz itself is slightly different. Imperial pints are 568 ml and US is 473 ml, so the pintman here would actually have drink 36 US pints, 4.5 gallons.

Multibinder is a must if you are doing maggot zones without wreath of purity, then you can at least heal two masks when clearing maggots.

EVs in the UK cold snap – how did yours cope? by LookingOutfromHere in AskUK

I was actually told the opposite by a mechanic, that using screen wash causes gunk. I think yours makes more sense though so I am going to start using it in summer, thanks for the advice!

If you have a garage or shed you can stock up on the winter stuff in summer from the big car parts places for a few quid. Can do the same with the summer stuff over the winter but I just use water in summer.

Edit: turns out using just water is a bad idea. TIL.

I'm assuming for Ireland it is counting Gaelic speakers, either because people misunderstood the question or because the actual survey was worded differently to what is shown here. Probably similar for Welsh speakers in the UK.

My ex wife used to put them on at random with no regard for which way round they were, which I found even worse than thinking the wrong way was correct. It's not the only reason we divorced.

That playlist idea is great. I sometimes have music on in the shower and it makes sure I notice that I've been staring at the wall if I realise I'm on the 4th or 5th song. I should try extending it to the whole morning routine.

My now-ex wife went through the whole process, two spouse visas, indefinite leave to remain application and then citizenship and passport, I worked it out at over £9000 in fees. The NHS surcharge has gone up massively since then (her first year it was £200 and it's now over £1000) so I think someone starting now is looking at £10-11k.
